Thing is, my initial reaction was to feel bad for the cheating husband. Because clearly his wife whom he cheated on was crazy enough to murder and commit suicide, so she must have been crazy to live with. Sane people don't react this way. Sort of like how while I normally feel bad for the laid off postal worker, once he goes postal, you start to consider that the post office had a good reason to fire him.

Yep.

This.

How do you know what really went on in that marriage? He might have been mentally cruel and cheated before but she took him back. Every person has a breaking point.

I mean, of course adultery does not warrant the death penalty. But, let's also not cast her as completely blameless in this whole scenario. There's room for nuance here.

I'm from that area and have been reading local coverage, which has been describing the victim in very glowing terms.

Yet she openly had an affair with a married man.

While she herself was married and the AP was her subordinate. Paragon of virtue she was not. Thankfully, no kids were involved.

Her DH is a sympathetic figure now (though he was cuckolded). He is young, single, good looking, moral (at least the optics suggest he is the innocent party), established, influential, not crazy (he separated and did not shoot)...I think he will get married to a pretty young thing and actually have kids.

+1

Meredith isn't innocent. She knew was married. At least now her ex husband can move on for good. Also grateful no kids were involved.

Because he did not care what happened to his AP, they never do.

If it turns out he had fair warning and didn't act the family should sue the pants off him.

Exactly. Don't pretend to know someone.

I don't think "failure to act" is a crime. Remember the Seinfeld finale?

Or, and I'm just spit-balling here, murderer and victim.

murderer and cheater

If it was a murderer and his drug dealer, we would say that.... just say it how it is.

Nobody deserves to be murdered, but she was not an innocent victim, she engaged in risky behavior and paid the ultimate price.

Isn't it amazing that social media portrays them as sooooo happy!!

He was happy.

I think they make a good looking couple. The wife is not ugly, and you don't really know someone until you live with them. He could have been a pompous arsenal, for all we know.

For a couple that age, both are in good shape.

Let me guess PP? You are a man? Surprised that an H would cheat on a thin wife? Guess what? It happens.

Sorry, but anyone who goes through a murder-suicide scheme is 99.5% likely to also be very difficult to be married to and live with. People aren't just spur of the moment crazy; there's lot of other craziness happening behind closed doors. I can safely say that me and my wife don't have that "breaking point." I know for a fact that she has too much self-respect.

This is terrible. Why didn’t he call 911 or at least call and warn the mistress?

"After finding out about the affair, Gerardot plotted a “calculated attack,” police said. “There were emails and text messages indicating what she planned to do,” Radnor Township Police Superintendent William Colarulo said in a news conference Tuesday."

Who was she emailing and texting her plans?? Did they not try to intervene?

OP - do you have a gun?

As an anonymous, jaded internet poster I have to say this - If I was in the wife's shoes - I cannot imagine killing the mistress, committing suicide but letting the husband go?

In similar circumstances, after killing DH and AP, I most probably would have run off to some tropical paradise or traveled the world. Perhaps get a face transplant, butt life, boob lift, tummy tuck too. If I would have got caught I would plead insanity or something.

Actually, I would have run away with all the money, not killed anyone and just published the photos of the affair all over the internet. I think that would be better than being dead. I cannot imagine being so angry that I kill myself. I can certainly imagine killing someone else if I am angry but never myself. I think I may have naturally high levels of Serotonin in my system. I want to live and be happy.

But before I did anything though - I would have procrastinated - a spa day, a hot stone massage, a long nap, some nachos, some wine...sigh!

The wife also killed herself so this is not a victory by any means. I like what Ivana Trump said "Don't get mad, get everything!"

She did not have kids. There was no reason to stay with the scumbag DH. She could have walked out with the bulk of money and lived a happy and carefree life. This was the destructive nuclear revenge which robbed her of her life too.

How well does anyone ever really know another person?

To the anonymous jaded poster, your DH is having an affair with a hotter and younger version of you. Let that sink in. You are being kicked to the curb. How are your Serotonin levels now?

Your post is meaningless because you are not putting yourself in the shoes of the killer. Of course, you would procrastinate and go to the spa and get a tummy tuck or whatever. You are not angry enough to kill someone. That was the mindset of the killer.

So go eat your nachos, pat your little paunch and smile sweetly because ignorance really is bliss. Enjoy your high serotonin levels...lol.
