Driving with an expired license is a big deal, right?

If not this weather, I will recommend it. But, oh boy, it will be brutal cold that early in the morning.

Because an aversion to cold is worth doing something illegal?

This would be my worry

One has nothing to do with the other. Are you paying your insurance premiums? You are covered.

If you aren’t paying your insurance premiums the cop is going to be a LOT more upset about that believe me.

Do we not have the MVA Express where you live? Where you pay a little extra but you can walk in anytime?
You can also walk in to any full service MVA here in Maryland and you get in line and you should get your license. I don’t understand the issue - what state do you live in?

My husband. Takes him about a month to get to it every time. Nothing bad has ever happened.

You may as well get it done before it expires because now you’ll be all paranoid and it’s all you’ll think about while driving.

I assume the insurance policy has a clause stating the insured must have driving privileges in good standing in order for the insurance to cover them.

It's an arrestable offense. Use public transporation or Uber until you get it renewed.

This reminds me of those threads where people ask how those with high HHIs do it.

You know that old saying that half of success in life is just showing up? I think it rings true here.

I'm a self-made millionaire. I've never missed a deadline or paid a bill late in my personal life, and same in my business life. I bet we get 25% of our sales for just "showing up" like responding to inquiries same-day. Then if we promise something to a customer on a certain date, we always deliver. That's almost all it takes -- just don't miss deadlines and deliver as promised.

My guess is people like OP who let important details in life like a driver's license renewal lapse are not destined to run a successful business.

We live in MD and you are mailed and emailed a renewal notice 2-3 months in advance, so it's hardly like this came as a surprise.

No. Read your policy there is nothing in there about that.
Of course if you go to renew and you have no license you’re not getting your insurance but that’s another issue.
Uninsured motorists are a huge problem that we all pay for (look for your uninsured motorist fee on your insurance declaration page) .

Right - and the only thing important in life is making money off other people. That makes you better than everyone else.
Check back when you get cancer and need treatment or want to know if severe weather is coming your way - business success is largely unimportant in the grand scheme of the world. Please wake up to the world around you.

There was a time where you could probably risk it, but with the license plate recognition system on many (all?, I don't really know) it's very likely you will get caught.

Not a self made millionaire but I agree with the millionaire pp. I mean, grow up, people. This is part of living in society.

Do NOT do this.

Tell your idiotic boss that:

A friend of my friend got SENT STRAIGHT TO JAIL when she was pulled over and the police officer noticed her license was expired. Her kids were in the car and everything. It was very traumatic.

I don't believe this happened but assuming it did, I'm sure that this person had a lot more going on, such as outstanding warrants, than just driving on an expired license.
