Fake news. DD said the girl had allergies.

See the post from today about the track coach at Blair having sex with a 16 year old girl.

Maybe that’s more of a concern than the gangs?

So people can make up stuff about the middle class parents at the Ws and just is just forum banter but if one points out that FARMs rates and EOLS levels are indacators of gang activity it gets deleted? Why is it mean to point out that one should look for concentrations of the typical demographics that make up a body to calculate the likelihood of them being there? Or is it mean to point out that people are poor and don’t speak English at a native level? Yes all poor kids are gang members but just about every gang member is a poor kid and how many MS13 kids are taking AP English?

For the same reason you can't look at neighborhoods with a lot of muslims as an indicator of terrorist activity or neighborhoods with a lot of poor whites as indicators of white supremacist activity. How about neighborhoods of "loner white men" as indicators of mass shooting activity. Neighborhoods of fraternity boys as indicators of violent hazing behavior.

You can't do these things because the rare outlier of any group does not bear any resemblance to the average person in that group.

I’ll bet you 1mil that there is a direct correlation to the schools with the highest gang activity and the FARMS rates, I will bet you another mil that MS13 specific activity correlates to schools with higher ESOL rates. Say what you will but it is true.

Well Hugh populations of Muslims does increase one’s odds of a Muslim terrorist just as Hugh populations of white people increases the risk of a crazy white person. Gangs are mostly poor and ignorant individuals so why is it taboo to point out that the clearest metric the schools provide to identity those types of kids? How many MS13 do you think are at McLean HS? Now let’s talk Freedom High in Woodbridge, which public metric should people look at?

Um, no it isn't.

Actually, no. We have high ESOL rates in our schools in my cluster, but the kids are Asian. Gang activity right now primarily (but not exclusively) correlates with kids from El Salvador. And unfortunately, they are the primary victims, too. Kids from other Spanish speaking countries are not the problem or the targets.

You really think there are no drinking and drug issues at Churchill. Maybe not for freshman but there is a huge amount, especially when those kids have easy access to money.

Exactly.

OMG.., there is not enough ink to print all the drug abuse in W schools.

Where did OP say that OP's twins are daughters?

But, speaking of feeling safe at school, you can look at the school safety reports. They're for 2015-2016, and MCPS didn't administer the School Survey of Environment to students that year, but for parents, the percent of parents who agreed with "my child feels safe at school" was

Blair - 98%
Paint Branch - 91%
Einstein - 91%
Kennedy - 91%
Northwood - 90%
Wheaton - 91%

and for reference

Whitman - 97%
Wootton - 96%
Churchill - 95%
Walter Johnson - 97%

I doubt there's a meaningful difference between 95% and 91%. So I think your twins will be ok.

There absolutely is a difference, given that the survey was administered to a sizeable population.

Of course there's a difference. But is it a meaningful difference? Is Einstein meaningfully less safe than Churchill? Is Blair meaningfully more safe than Churchill, or Northwood, or Paint Branch?

Yes. That is what I meant, PP, and you knew it.
Don't joke around with the numbers.
