Or is it mean to point out that people are poor and don’t speak English at a native level? Yes all poor kids are gang members but just about every gang member is a poor kid and how many MS13 kids are taking AP English?

For the same reason you can't look at neighborhoods with a lot of muslims as an indicator of terrorist activity or neighborhoods with a lot of poor whites as indicators of white supremacist activity. How about neighborhoods of "loner white men" as indicators of mass shooting activity. Neighborhoods of fraternity boys as indicators of violent hazing behavior.

You can't do these things because the rare outlier of any group does not bear any resemblance to the average person in that group.

Well Hugh populations of Muslims does increase one’s odds of a Muslim terrorist just as Hugh populations of white people increases the risk of a crazy white person. Gangs are mostly poor and ignorant individuals so why is it taboo to point out that the clearest metric the schools provide to identity those types of kids? How many MS13 do you think are at McLean HS? Now let’s talk Freedom High in Woodbridge, which public metric should people look at?

Well, AAs are statistically more likely to be incarcerated than whites, so go ahead and cross off any schools with AAs. And to be fair, whites are much more likely to be alcoholics or addicted to opioids, so you'd better not go to schools with whites either. Asians are definitely known for being very stressed out due to parental demands, so cross them off too. OK, so who's left for your kids to go to school with so you know they'll always be safe and happy?

Yah such rare outliers, rationalize all you want. All areas are not equal and there is a growing problem in silver spring and your Kumbaya attitude and indifference is enabling it. Enjoy you lower mortgage, you get what you pay for.

I don't understand the point of posting an article about an area with literally millions of people and saying "OMG crime!" It proves nothing. The majority of middle class families (and let's face it, on DCUM many of are UMC by national standards) on this board who live in SS are not exposed to this.

What is your point, if one isn’t directly affected to the crime they are not exsposed to it? You may have your blinders on to all those houses with multiple work trucks and multiple other cars cramming into SFHs in your neighborhood. But trust me your kids are exsposed to that reality at school. Let’s hope you aren’t exposed. You tell me how many violent crimes connected directly to silver spring and MS13 before I get to have a valid point?

Posting an article about MS13 and talking about "lower mortgages" - your stereotypes are off base to put it mildly. Yes, I live in SS and I'm not exposed to MS13 and my kids feel safe at school. We've only seen our neighborhoods and school improve since we've been here over a decade but if it makes you feel better, with the equity we have in our home and our HHI we have the option of moving - we are not planning to. My neighborhood is filled with a lot of government lawyers and not so much MS13 members LOL but you do you.

In case anyone missed this:

Another article somewhere else I think said that one of the individuals was a student at Edison.

MCPS and the state’s attorney office and the police dept just had a news conference the other day on the gang issue. It is definitely here and what our institutions are doing is not enough.

LOL OK. I recognize your incoherent posting and same phrasing from the other thread. I guess you don't realize how sad you look desperately trying to assert that there is no one in the DCC who wants to be there. You clearly know nothing of the neighborhoods in SS and the demographics of the people of who live there. You remind me of that scene in Overboard where Goldie Hawn angrily stomps her feet on the yacht after being insulted and screams, "Everyone wants to be me." Hilarious.

Why is it mean to point out that one should look for concentrations of the typical demographics that make up a body to calculate the likelihood of them being there?

Blind to it and not exsposed are two different things. Tell you what, I’ll bet you the next MS13 murder is in silver spring and you bet Bethesda and we will check back here in a week of so when it happens.

You clearly missed my point..but okay meet back after next MS13 murder!

Moron.

Ha yet another DCC resident who caveats there sour grapes with (we are rich enough to live somewhere nicer but we chose to stay). Least people on the anonymous forum think they were one of the typical residents. That insecurity tell the truth behind their bravado

+1000

It is incomprehensible to some posters that there are people out there who LIKE Silver Spring. Sour grapes? How is liking where you live sour grapes?
