s/o what counts as looking "put together"?

I think the problem is brands that appeal to heavier people (Lularoe for example!) are terribly unflattering. If you're not thin, you'd probably look better in something more tailored than an oversized sack in a loud pattern.

I am curious what sizes people consider to be "thin," especially if Reese Witherspoon isn't.

That's one person. Of course she's thin. I've seen her in person and she is TINY.

a couple people called her "curvy" in here, I think. Plus there's that person who was critiquing her photos.

Perfect example of someone larger but always looks put together

She has so much money to look good. I agree that athletic wear always looks ridiculous unless you are actually working out. People come in all sizes and everyone should be nicer. I am 20 pounds over weight because I gained it while my husband was sick and dying. Had more than my looks to worry about. Haven't managed to make that a priority again since I am doing all I can just to exist and raise my children. Be nice people!!

Yeah, looking put together does not mean "skinny in jeans and a t-shirt." I think put-together is about the stuff that's independent of your weight. Are you wearing clothes that match/go together? Are they clean and in good repair? Do they fit you or are they way too big or too small? Are you wearing any accessories? Have you combed your hair? Are you wearing any makeup? Basically, do you look like you took at least a few minutes to put your outfit together or did you just grab random clothes or workout wear?

Not put-together: old jeans or yoga pants and a t-shirt with flip-flops or sneakers and messy hair, no makeup
Casual but put-together: jeans that fit properly, a fitted t-shirt and a blazer or cardigan, a pair of earrings, flats. Makeup would be at least moisturizer, tinted lip balm, and mascara.

You can look put together if you are overweight, its just more expensive. When I was thinner I could find affordable, even cheap clothing that fit me nicely and made me look put together. Being overweight now, its harder to find affordable clothes that fit, fabrics that dont stretch or pull, etc.

Okay but I wish people would err on the side of fewer accesories-- you don't need big earrings, statement necklace, multiple bracelets at once. That's tacky, not put together.

Agree. Is it awful that I actually think she still looks kind of cute here? She's Brit, she can rock anything.

Look, no one is saying the onlyfactor is to be thin. But clearly it helps a lot right? I think that was the PP's point, which I actually agree with.

It's a lot harder for overweight people to look put together.
