You are sick. Pedophilia is very very rare.

Talk to someone in law enforcement. It is not rare. That doesn't mean I think Podesta was running a ring--but, don't deceive yourself into thinking it is not a serious problem.

I'm sure Comet is blameless here (although it probably would've been wiser not to publicly post any photos of taped-down toddlers in your restaurant), but pedophilia really is a serious problem that is more widespread than many think. And oftentimes people just don't want to believe how pervasive it is because it's such a reprehensible crime. So you get people turning a blind eye when there are indications of abuse, especially if the alleged abuser is someone thought to be upstanding or powerful or prominent in the community. This happened with Sandusky and Savile, and consequently many more kids were abused when their abuse could have been prevented. The abuse in those cases went on for literally decades.

Some of the people "investigating" pizzagate are probably aware of the tendency to sweep these crimes under the rug, and that might be partly what's motivating them to be so dogged here. A lot of them are probably actually well meaning, and maybe someone of them are taking this to such irrational extremes because they themselves were victims of abuse growing up.

Wow, no. The Comet fiasco is entirely due to the scourge of fake news and people creating/promoting it for political reasons. It has nothing at all to do with legitimate work against child abuse. FFS, in the Sandusky case people *literally saw with their own eyes* him raping children and did nothing. That has absolutely zero overlap with what is happening here: a bizarre, possibly politically motivated, internet-mediated conspiracy theory with the foreseeable result of triggering a likely mentally unstable person towards violence.

I'm curious if you get extra points every time you work the trendy new term "fake news" into a post.

Ok then. Do the old terms "lies" or "insidious disinformation" or "malicious fabrications" work for you?

I guess so. It would definitely make you sound more earnest and less like you're just pushing partisan propaganda.

So - if this fakery was the product of a subredit and spread maliciously - can't someone libel these folks? I would contribute to a go fund me campaign for it. The folks spreading lies like this are the same folks who target other individuals. They are not one off, they are an industy and make money on it. Smart trial attorney - how far can one reach in this sort of malicious libel? Spread with a deliberate intent to harm??

How? It's being spread through anonymous people on the internet. I'm glad the Washington Post took away the comments section for that article. There were quite a few people claiming Pizza Gate is real and posting links to images of children.

What a singularly ineffective attempt at deflection. #pizzagate is the definition of fake news.

It's an accurate term. Why does it bother you that an accurate term gains widespread currency?

Tom Sietsema had two reviews of this place over the years. He obviously is part of a child trafficking ring by the DC elites.

Podesta has some unusual taste in art and friends. Biljana Djurdjevic's art is on the edge of cringe-worthy.

Is it true that Podesta likes this kind of art? While I don't think there is anything to the Comet Pizza thing, if this is his taste, I can certainly see why some are buzzing.

Yeah, that's the way Trump people at rallies felt after being attacked by those paid by the Hillary campaign folk.

More fake news.

Trump supporters are terrifying. They are ok with stoking mentally unstable people who arm themselves to the teeth and travel across state lines to threaten and shoot firearms within legit businesses. They lie like they breathe and insist a story that was tracked as being invented in a Trump subreddit is something, but it's not 'fake news' and that 'fake news' is somehow a politicized term when describing a news story that was provably 100% invented.

I think it's okay to not try to find common ground with 'the other side' at this point. Both NSA appointee-to-be Flynn and his son have tweeted this made-up story -- and Flynn is one of Trump's less controversial appointments. But there will be no coming around to having supposedly rational adults in Trump's administration show scorn for this kind of hate mongering. It's important for this kind of garbage to not be normalized.

11:07, why even bother. I would be so disgusted with myself if I spent time spreading specious rumors and hatred towards someone, along with incendiary accusations about being pedophilia-adjacent, with no basis at all. You are a sad, sad soul, and so naive to think no one can see through you. So pathetic.

Did you not read Jeff's post explaining that this is not "fake news"? Reddit and 4chan are not "news" sites. The people spreading this misinformation are doing so by promoting false rumors and conspiracies on the Internet. They are not posing as legitimate journalists.

You sound almost as clueless and gullible as the people you're so intent on condemning. I feel like next you're going to tell me the whole thing is the work of nefarious Russian spies.

Ok, whatever. The fact that you're so keen on defending the people I am "intent on condemning" and even here debating this at all, shows exactly who you are. I hope you're happy with yourself.

It would be nice if Mike Pence went to Comet this week for some pizza since he lives within walking distance and has been there before.
