Trump stated he wants to overturn Roe v. Wade.
Trump stated women should be punished for getting abortions. Birth control may not be covered under insurance, it depends on his new healthcare plan (if he even has one). It's already fairly difficult in many states to get an abortion, this certainly won't help. |
Do you support eliminating the grant programs from which PP receives funds? Or do you only support making PP ineligible for those funds? |
Yep! http://nymag.com/thecut/2016/11/why-you-should-get-an-iud-before-trump-becomes-president.html?mid=facebook_nymag |
This the correct answer. Whether or not abortion is legal will be decided by the states. This is the situation as it existed before Roe v. Wade, consistent, in the view of many, with the Tenth Amendment. There are those who oppose Roe v.Wade not because it made abortion legal, but because it required all the states to make it legal, taking away the states' right to determine this issue for themselves. I personally believe that this decision began a huge rift in the country between those who believe strongly in states rights and those who believe strongly in a federal overlay on those rights through living interpretation of the Constitution. If you live in Maryland, Virginia, or DC nothing happens to the right to abortion because of an overturning of Roe v. Wade. If anything, it could lead to even further liberalization in those states. For example, without Roe v. Wade, SCOTUS imposed constraints on third term abortions could be removed in those states. |
Let's hope Hillary does not try to run for a THIRD time. |
Basic constitutional protections aren't a matter of a state prerogative. Are you okay with states outlawing interracial marriage? What about prohibiting unmarried couples from using birth control? Arresting people for engaging in sexual acts with persons of the same sex? Denying accommodations or services to same sex couples? |
shut the fuck up, hillary won the popular vote! |

| That's just not true. But okay - go ahead and believe that there won't be any backlash against women. Right. |
How can you not remember that, during an interview, he advocated for an abortion ban WITH 'Some Form of Punishment' for women who get them illegally. |
Agreed. "You will be pregnant and forced to have a baby!!" is the silliest yet somehow resilient D message. And if you're stupid enough to believe it... |
Grabbing this from another thread: Barely. Looks like by a margin of 150,000. Obama got 10,000,000 more votes than McCain. Bush trounced Kerry by 3,000,000. Al Gore got 500,000 more votes than Bush. WHY WAS THIS EVEN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD OF CLOSE?! How does someone who has 20 years of electoral experience over a candidate of ZERO, someone with more political money than god, someone with the best (and to be honest even more popular than her) surrogates ever, loose so badly? This was a ridiculous shitshow of a candidacy. Biden would have trounced that orange. |
You hope that I won't be allowed to marry the person I love, adopt a child in need of a family, and will make less money than men do? May I ask why? |
