OP, I am sorry that some posters have turned this into a referendum on wilderness. It's beyond me that people here don't understand that people will not acknowledge that you made that choice with due diligence, and with having weighed all of the other available options. The unfortunate fact is that in-patient psychiatric care for children and adolescents is largely geared toward stabilizing acute/crisis patients. IME, the approach to care does not square with the needs of adolescents with depression and anxiety, conditions which sometimes require patient and persistent therapeutic intervention, particularly if there is resistance/refusal on the teen's part.
