My wife had a really long relationship before we met. Like from the age of 15 to 32ish...on and off but mostly on from after college to early 30s. Its such a huge chunk of her life and she never gives me details about it. Any vacations, apartments, schools, anything that had to do with him she just won't talk about. We are talking almost 2 decades of events here. One time a friend of ours went to Germany and we had an entire dinner all about discussing their trip. She acted very interested, asked questions, very engaging. On the way home I said " we should go sometime" and she went "i would love that." Never once mentioning or even alluding to the fact she had been. Months later I was getting her moms christmas tree out of the their attic and I see 4 huge photo albums labeled "Hawaii" "yellow stone" "south bend" and "GERMANY". I opened the first page up and saw him and her right in Frankfurt. I quickly closed it but was very curious about the other albums and 6 weeks later when I went back to put away the tree I was planning on raiding all of it. Wouldn't you know they were all cleared out. It just made me realize she had a whole other life and Im not privileged to ANY of the information.
