Tempted to move to great falls from McLean as prices seem to be falling

How awful is the commute into Bethedsa (for DH) and into DC (for me) just west of the McLean border? Like the remoteness of GF, but loathe adding a soul-sucking commute. I can telework for at least two days per week, so I can tolerate some DC commuting drama, but DH considers a long commute a deal breaker.

Are there fewer poor's?

People I know in GF entertain ALL the time - they have elaborate homes and gardens, with pools, tennis courts, basketball courts, and tons of land.

"Traffic" and "convenience" are not a problem at all, to the people that live there.

Do your friends use helicopters to get around? Tough to get flight paths approved in DC.

I don't know about Bethesda, but if you live near Rt 7 in GF, you can take a bus fairly quickly to the Spring Hill metro station, or drive to the Weihle station. (Many folks in my neighborhood take the bus to the Spring Hill metro.)

Can you provide a link? I'd assume bus service near Great Falls is hit or miss (mostly miss) given how spread out it is.

Just. Stop. No one wants to hear your nonsense. No one cares how great you think McLean is. No one.

Do the affluent people in great falls falls have to take a bus to the metro? That doesn't sound ballin to me.

I find all of you pretty odd for bashing each others communities. No one can ask a real estate related question on this board without people chiming in with their snarky comments about how bad the community is- I have no idea why people put so much energy into doing this, does it make them feel better about where the live??

Well, yes. Because some of Great Falls is not that affluent. There are a lot of federal employees in my neighborhood who commute downtown or to the Pentagon every day. People have this vision that Great Falls is all about mansions and giant properties -- and that's imply not true. Yes, there are many large houses and properties, but there are also neighborhoods, like mine, that have smaller homes and a great community feel. These neighborhoods are just north (east?) of Rt 7, so we are near the main transportation routes, such as the metro, bus and toll road.

Fairfax Connector Rt 574 goes down Route 7 towards Tysons beginning at Baron Cameron. If you live in the GF neighborhoods near Rt 7, you can take that bus to the Silver Line.

You must be new here. This is what people do to boost themselves up. Unless you have a $2 mil budget, most people around here have had to sacrifice on something and are paying a lot in the meantime. Snarking on other neighborhoods makes them feel better about their purchase. Pretty pathetic stuff.

+1

Nailed it.

Some people can be really insecure about where they live. There are some doozies out there. Just hope you don't live next to one, and you will be just fine.
