+1 Why on earth would you assume she would be teased?? I feel for you as you must live in a very backward community to assume that a child with the name Pascale would be teased. OP - I really like it but it's not up to me or anyone on DCUM. If you and DH like it, go for it. It seems that unless your child is Mary Elizabeth, Catherine/Katherine, Henry, or Edward, the name that you choose is going to be ripped apart as "trying too hard" or that the name is "unpronounceable". I wouldn't worry what a bunch of ignorant nitwits think.

She will not ever be made fun of, at my kids' schools. But then not everybody at my kids' schools is named Liam, Caroline, Elizabeth, or Henry. |
OK, think of the difference between "call" and "cal" (as in California). |

Yes, I can hear the difference. They're still basically the same word. |
That's like saying that pall and pal are basically the same word. And I suppose that some pals are palls, but I usually try to avoid having those. |
FWIW, I was pronouncing it "-kale" until PP clarified it should be "-call". I am not a French speaker. |
| love it! |

Sounds very French. Would only use if you don't want that to be the association.

Living in a bubble won't last forever. That's a hard name to have if you are a female living in this country. I have a friend who has a similar kind of name and at age 40 she still hates her name and regrets being named it. She should have changed it but didn't want to offend her parents but she hates it. You asked. Don't get defensive when you are told what people might think. |
NP here. I know all this but it made me think of paschal lamb too. Doesn't mean you shouldn't choose it, but that's where my mind went. |
I know seven ugly, sad Pascales. |
? The kids at the schools my kids go to have all kinds of names. Non-English-language names, English-ish names, royalty-of-England names, names I've never heard of. I don't think it's my kids' schools that are the bubble. |
Pin Pen Tomato Tomahto American "mall" English "mall" Lots of words have soundalikes. So to me: Pascale = Paschal lamb. |
