I wonder if her parents would urge her to pick a 'more practical' major? Or if undergrad makes no difference, might as well just enjoy it?

Seriously? If I had the money that ex-presidents have/will have, my kids could major in basket weaving if it made them happy. One of Bush's girls studied media and works in television. Is that okay as a practical major or is it just Obama who should 'urge' Malia to pick something more 'practical.' |
Her father publicly shagging an intern barely older than his daughter may also have had something to do with it. |
I am not defending any Bush. But who says an Ivy is always the be all and end all? And UT Austin is an excellent university, but not for everyone. The ill-informed snobbery on this board is pretty amazing. If I had a choice of, say, Cornell vs. UT, I would definitely choose UT. --Not a Texas Ex |

Media isn't film-making, it's school of communications, not fine arts |
Universities will want the bragging rights, even schools that will pretend that they don't care about bragging. Plus, they know it will mean regular engagement and probably campus speeches and other events with the (ex) president and first lady. |
Seriously. |
Are the law and medical schools "real" ones, or Kennedy School stuff (fluff?). Or is it just fair Harvard College you speak of, old boy? |
Nails on a chalkboard. I really cannot take it. |
I think this is a big part of why so many kids with secret service coverage choose Sidwell. Much more closed off and protected campus than most of the other privates, |
