Can Type A and Type B be friends?

Anonymous
I have a majority of type A friends, but I'm married to a type B. It's good for me.

There is however a type B friend I have that I'm thinking of "breaking up" with because she drives me nuts. It obviously depends on the person.

I've tried being spontaneous with other people and have found that it doesn't work. All those good ideas I come up with spontaneously end up getting wasted because other people already have their own plans or haven't had time to process the idea to actually go through with it. It's not that I dislike spontaneity as much as the fact that I haven't had success with it. The only way I can be spontaneous and actually accomplish anything is with myself and I do enjoy those times. My husband's family never plans anything because they don't want to deal with a plan that fails and as a result all of the children are still living at home at 25 and 30. They dropped out of college because they couldn't manage their course load, have no idea about their future, and have spent every summer lying around the house. The entire family is continually stuck in intertia and now the children have even become afraid of trying new things. Anything they accomplish is usually the result of some free program that's been made available to them which was planned previously by a Type A person.

Type A/B sounds like the Myers Briggs J/P distinction -

Do you prefer a more structured and decided lifestyle (Judging) or a more flexible and adaptable lifestyle (Perceiving)? People who tend to focus on making decisions have a preference for Judging because they tend to like things decided. People who tend to focus on taking in information prefer Perceiving because they stay open to a final decision in order to get more information.

Possibly, but I know a lot of Type B people who are unstructured but are not flexible and Type A people who are structured but flexible. In order to make decisions you often need to be flexible. I think structured vs. unstructured is a better indicator of Type A vs. Type B.
