Can Type A and Type B be friends?

Huh. I'm always early for appointments and deadlines but also am a flake on casual plans because I often need to recharge at home alone, as much as I'd like to see my friends. What does that make me?

I think that makes you ... me! We're divergent.

'Cause we get shit done and don't waste your time?

Type As waste so much freaking time worrying about shit that doesn't matter, I can't stand to be around them. Always uptight and complaining about everything and everyone.

Most people I meet in DC are Type A.

Can someone who is Type A explain why they are so rigid and scheduled and dislike sponteneity? Why does everything have to be scheduled and planned, why can't they just go with the flow? I just can't relate to this personality type at all.

I am as upfront as possible and try to be self deprecating, but I make it clear they really should have no expectations of me as a friend. I show up when you need me - I'm good at that, but I suck at birthdays. Being on time. Keeping my BBQ plans. All that stuff is out the door. So unjust lay it out- and if the harm around they deal.

This may all be true of you, but this isn't what a Type B person is. In other words, type B isn't the same thing as "a self-involved flake"

I'm upfront about being a self-involved flake.

This is funny. You did not read the whole article.

You all are so incredibly ignorant. I thought DC was full of educated people. Apparantly not.

People don't fit in neat little boxes chock full of stereotypes. Everyone has a little of this and that.

I'm Type B, but am punctual and like to be organized. I only like spontaneity within reason. I hate suprise parties. Hate them. I measure success in happiness and balance. I was too lazy to finish college, but managed to get myself a 6 figure job (probably due to confidence).

My good friend is probably what you would consider Type A. She's a hard driver, successful, and sets and reaches goals. She however is always up for what ever kind of fun and I can put her in any situation with any sort of people. She's warm and likeable.

Don't be stupid. It's not a good personality trait.

I'm a Type A female. I have friends of both types of both sexes. I would say that probably more of my friends are Type A. It's just easier sometimes. They get me. I'm kind of energetic and hyper and organized, and I kind of like to know what we're doing and when, and they get that.

That said, when you have a longtime friend who is the other type, you know each other well and you can work within the other person's comfort zone. For me, it's about managing expectations. So if I know we're having a chill day, I can have a chill day, but it helps to know that going in. I'm cool with a plan for the day like, "We're waking up and going to the beach, and around 6 we'll have dinner." If I know that's the plan, I'm cool, and a type B person can generally work with that.

Who thinks about this shit? I'm friends with people I click with. My friends all have different types of personalities, interests, and attitudes. You people have serious problems and I question if any of you actually have friends. Probably not.

You're an introvert Type B.

I know very few lawyers or doctors who are true Type Bs.

Because spontaneity doesn't come naturally to me. Because I have goals I want to achieve, so I manage my time accordingly. Are you at all goal oriented and do you carefully track your time? What is your job?

I think about it because I'm a Type A married to a Type B. I thought we'd balance each other out, but sometimes there's tension between the types and it's helpful to see other Type Bs' perspectives.
