Bruce Jenner - A teachable moment

I am saddened to read some of these responses. Posters who are calling a transgender person a "fruitloop" and such, is it possible for you to consider how life might be like for these individuals? Honest question, do you feel any compassion for these individuals?

And so it begins "transphonia"
"Look," Foxx added. "I'm just busting your balls while I still can."

Oh, please - thinking that this is not “normal” does not mean anyone is homophobic. It is NOT normal.

It is not "normal" if compared to the gender identity of the majority of people. By by that definition, autism is "not normal". Homosexuality is "not normal". Thankfully, most people have learned that just because someone is different from you does not make them "abnormal". It simply makes them different from you. People who identify as transgender are NOT abnormal. Bruce is not abnormal.

I agree with the PP. There is some serious repressed sexuality in this thread.

Everything is about sex to you, right? There are differences and then there are perversions of the norm. That's what we are dealing with here

Yes, everything IS about sex. Perversions of the "norm". Describe norm.

Jenner apprently in process to "become a woman" when he met Kris Jenner (since you know- she's just a home run) and then reversed some procedures in place and just went back now. Sorry- but that just doesn't make sense. he either is or isn't and at that point he wasn't in the media as much as earlier. Unless he saw Kris as his media ticket- either way, he just isn't mentally right for his decisions.

Are you watching the interview? I'm so sad for him. He seems very sad.

The skeptic in me says....this is a man, an athlete, who spent the prime of his life (and beyond) enjoying the company of beautiful women. Then his life takes a weird turn and he was thrust into the reality show spotlight. Now at the age of 65 Bruce is declaring himself a woman in a man's body...it just seems like weird timing for all of this. I don't know if this is for real with Bruce or just an attempt to keep himself in the limelight. I really do not know.

Anonymous wrote:PP, you and others like you can only come up with "hateful" when people disagree with you. Do you insist everyone who doesn't agree with you on everything is "hateful"? Because this is something we see so often with those with more liberal viewpoints. No surprise to me, for that reason.

No, hateful bigot.

He does seem sad.

I found it interesting he said he hated the expression a "woman trapped in a man's body" and that it was just the person that s/he was and is. Despite how awful the Kardashian taint is, I think he might actually be able to do some good.

Maybe.

That's how I'm seeing it

I certainly judge him, but for other reasons. He just caused the death of another person, and somehow evaded any responsibility for it.

Oh honey, did your mother not have The Talk with you? I could make it simple for you and post some hand-outs from my 10 year olds "family life" seminar if that would help you?

Belinda Jenner most likely has Narcistic Personality Disorder. I wonder why he hasn't been diagnosed with that, as a possibility for why he craves so much attention. Who is buying for one minute that Belinda Jenner is not just seeking publicity and the Spotlight instead of speaking for transgenders? What if he really has a mental illness, and instead of taking it seriously, the medical community starts his transition.

Wait, Belinda just revealed that she started transitioning in the 1980s, after two marriages and four children. In his 40s, he spent five years taking hormones, etc.

Wow the Diane Sawyer interview is fascinating. Hormones at 40??

He's whack!

I think at the end of the day - he was a great athlete in his youth. He is 65 now, and does not have the responsibility of kids, career etc. So, he is not hurting anyone and he is not using tax-payer money for this transformation.

It does feels strange to watch him do this because he is on reality TV and we have been watching his personal life much to closely for much too long.
