pixie hair cut

I have a pixie and I've had it for 15 years. I get sick if it, but I don't have pretty hair when I grow it out. It just looks fly away and random. Fortunately the pixie works well with my face and it looks feminine. If it didn't work, I would surely have a craggy ass pony tail. It depends on your face shape, features and your hair type. If I could I would have flowing beautiful hair, but I can't so I am daring to look different with a pixie.

Found this helpful tip in Marie Claire:

Some women with strong features (strong nose, etc.) can still look amazing with a pixie cut, in my opinion. Face shape is part of the equation, but a lot of it is also confidence.

For those who say its a man turn off, I say: Halle Berry.

Every time I grow out my hair, I regret it. I hate hair maintenance, I hate having hair in my face, and I always just end up pulling it back or pinning it up. So why bother having long hair? Cute pixie all the way.

Not the OP, but I like that. I am so tired of long ratty ass hair and want to go short again, but not super pixie short.

But most of us don't look like Halle Berry. She would still look good with NO hair.

Agree that you have to have the attitude to pull off a short hair cut (and the right clothes and makeup, too) - then it can be stunning and stylish.

And you can't be overweight. Overweight + pixie cut = frumpy.

It does require more maintenance, in that you have to go in every 6 weeks for trims. But it makes up for it in the ease of styling it in the morning. I color my hair, so I'd be going in that often for root touch-ups anyway.

Growing out is really only a pain for a little while, if you have a good stylist. You have to get the sides longer, and then you just cut it into a short bob that you grow out. I've done it several times and its not that bad. Although I might never grow it out again. The older I get, the more flattering the pixie is on me.

Go for it! Do you have a stylist you really trust? I love the look. I wish I could do something like that, but my hair is curly with a tendency to frizz and I would look insane.

Why on earth do you think OP cares what men think?

Thanks for the name. Did he help you figure out your style? Or did you already know what you wanted? I am ready for a big change to short, but I don't know what. I know a few styles for sure I don't want! Would he be good to help me figure it out? How much is a cut? Also looking at Ira Ludwick salon. Gets very good reviews.

This is not true. I am pretty average looking (big nose) but have a round face and long neck and pixie works really well for me. When I cut my hair, I got the most hair related compliments I have ever had in my entire life.

I think the key things for pixie to work for you (in order of importance) are:

- round face shape including not large jawline
- long neck
- thin or average weight
- thin/fine bone structure
- cute, pretty face
