pixie hair cut

I found that I needed a little more makeup and more feminine glasses. I have a round (fat) face but I also have very fine hair so it gave me more body and height which thinned my face a bit.

I've always been tempted to get a pixie but was told you need really strong features to pull off a really short cut. (Think Robin Wright, who has a good pixie right now.) My face is oval with no really distinctive features, conventionally symmetrical, etc.

I've also been told that you need to up your makeup and jewelry habits with shorter hair.

You will need to do your hair and put makeup on EVERY DAY. I've had a pixie or a short bob most of my adult life, but it's work. And it requires upkeep -- to keep it cute, you have to go in for a trim every few weeks, and if you dye your hair, the roots will be a much bigger deal.

That is a great pixie cut, and I say Go For It! It sounds like it would look great on you. It is very liberating to get a pixie cut. The "men don't like short hair on women" is not entirely true, based on my experience.

I have had a pixie for years. I've tried to grow it out once but I have curly hair and it was a nightmare to be in an awkward phase for a year with no end in site. Yes, it is a more masculine cut. I decided I'm fine with that and my femininity isn't defined by my hair cut or how much make up I wear. It is a little butch, and I'm straight but comfortable with that. You either need to do earrings, dresses, make up, etc or be comfortable with people sometimes thinking you're a lesbian.

+1 on upkeep, I have to get a cut every 6 weeks, though styling is only 3-4 minutes

So funny that people think short hair is a man turn off.

If you look amazing, believe me they really won't care how short your hair is.

I am the poster who had short hair for years (until I got too old!) and believe me I had PLENTY of male attention during those years.

I LOVE that haircut! I think so many women associate short hair with dowdy and "giving up" but a really cute pixie is very sexy! And a lot of guys think so too - the ones who think long hair is feminine I avoid anyway.

I've never felt as beautiful as when I had that haircut. I have fine, straight hair and it gave me some volume on top. I have strong features, including pronounced cheekbones, and I still think it was my best ever cut.

That said, DH (who is not at all controlling) strongly prefers longer hair. So until I am a widow, I'll keep it shoulder length. But you should definitely go for it.

A well-defined chin and jaw is key. I'm chubby right now so I'd look like Peter from the Cosby show.

It is a man turn-off.

You would have looked more amazing, and gotten much more male attention, if you hadn't cut it short.

But if you want to repel men with an aggressively unsexy haircut, go right ahead.

I think you can tell if you'd look good with a pixie by whether your face looks good when you have a ponytail on the top of your head. I don't. Super jealous of anyone who can pull it off though.
