Explaining Attraction: Only Attracted to Other Race/Ethnicity

In my opinion, just because you are physically + sexually attracted to a certain ethnicity and not another does not make you a racist at all.

I am an Asian woman who has always had this weakness for Latin/Hispanic guys since high school. (I am now in my 40's.) There is something about their Spanish accents that makes them hot to me.)

As I have gotten older, I have become more open-minded to other ethnic groups, however I am still not attracted at all to Middle-Eastern type men or Black men (except T.I. and Reggie Bush.)

But overall, I do not consider myself a racist.

You are almost spot on. Race is often a social construction today and is an outdated mid-century concept. So that is why I prefer to identify on the basis of ethnicity. I can hardly see how you ascribe socially constructed stereotypes as the basis for my natural feeling, when the original post clearly stated that I have had intimate and romantic relationships with Black women? The fact that women of other ethnic backgrounds give our connection that extra factor, does not mean that I do not have a romantic connection with women of similar ethnicity.

I don't think I was saying anything passively. There IS a beauty standard for light skin in this country. Even black women who are considered attractive by the main stream are, by and large, lighter skinned black women with features that appear more European than African. They're the women you see on magazines and runways. There are exceptions, obviously, but the reality is that light skin and European features are considered the most attractive.

As for your other remarks, I don't really understand what you're trying to say. In your other posts, you've suggested that you'd cheat on a woman who doesn't have that "extra" special feature. So I guess maybe don't date women who you don't feel a special connection with. If that connection only comes with white British women, don't date women that aren't white and British, problem solved.

Pity this thread got sidetracked but everyone is welcome to contribute to a public forum, despite the differences in understanding. I am still open to hearing more feedback. Although we all know that opposites attract, it would be interesting to share why we find ourselves defining our 'opposites' on the basis of ethnicity and perhaps not on the basis of personality, culture, or otherwise.
