PP hit the nail on the head. You feel like a fraud in your neighborhood/circles and fear being just like your mom one day. Maybe you need to find real friends who don't make you feel inferior. What's so wrong with where you're from? I come from very humble beginnings and I'm very proud of my upbringing. Are you spiritual at all? Maybe that's what's missing from your life.
