Wow. People are this worked up about PW? I like and use some of her recipes. Who cares if she has more money and fame then she lets on. Why do people feel personally scammed by a TV celebrity?

To add, Ina's relationship with her husband is 10x the performance that PW's life is.

I don't think it's about the Pioneer Woman's money, it's how she knowingly set out to deceive gullible people. Sure Ina's wealthy, but she never tried to hide that fact. Ree Drummond on the other hand went out of her way to dupe people, manufacturing and promoting her "little ol' ranch wife" persona. PW's recipes are available in church cookbooks all across the country. That Marlboro Woman site you people have been mentioning, it has photos of the exact recipes and the church cookbooks Drummond ripped them from. I don't get why people feel it necessary to defend such a hack.

I don't think anyone doubts that Ina manufactures, to some extent, her "lifestyle." But she doesn't pretend to be just folks, or to do everything alone. I like Ezrapoundcake and Homesick Texan for food blogs.

Then you are not very good at reading. What you could take from what several posters have said about Ree Drummond - married into the 17th largest landowning family in the country - has pretended to have a regular income. That's not genuine, and it's not because she's rich; it's because she is choosing to be deceptive.

Other food blogs/shows mentioned in this discussion including Ina Garten and Smitten Kitchen I find to be great. I think the recipes are very nice and I look through them for inspiration.

For the most part, I have found the pioneer woman's recipes to largely be kind of heavy and gross with not the best ingredients. Some are ok--just not my cooking style. I don't watch her show, so no comment on that.

I used to read her blog, have a cookbook. I like a lot of her recipes,but she is just not a TV person, that is it. She is not necessarily telegenic, but so what? She's not cooking babies, if you don't like her food or her show -- DO NOT WATCH. People who devote entire blogs to hating on her need serious mental health help!!

That MW site is a scream. PW's cookbooks are called "crookbooks" and her wide-eyed followers are referred to as "reeple." Don't know who's behind it, but they did their homework where the Pioneer Woman is concerned. From what I could see, the site offers balance and a venue for people who see through Drummond's PW gag. Didn't detect any hate, but saw a lot of evidence pointing to Ree Drummond being nothing more than a huckster. I feel sorry for people who buy into Ree's hype. For those who don't know, the Food Network show wasn't Ree's first attempt to get on TV.

I don't know that I would care that much about PW if I didn't feel as though there are a lot of women out there who hold themselves to her standard (as Ree presents it). They wonder why they can't serve (supposedly) delicious meals AND homeschool AND have a wildly popular blog AND worship their husbands every moment of the day AND have wonderful close friendships and family relationships AND travel AND AND AND

I don't think anyone should beat herself up for not being like PW. PW isn't like PW; she can afford to hire a staff of people to create the image that is PW. It's not the crappiness, it's the fakeness.

PW strikes me as similar to Martha. Did people ever act surprised that Martha didn't do it all herself?

No way! Martha is the real deal. She has minions that run around and do a lot for her, but she is 10000% capable of doing it by herself, and probably 5x better.

Well, I guess that answers my question.

To be clear I'm not comparing their quality. I'm comparing the image they project of "Oh hai I just whipped up this lil' ol' thing off the top of my head and yes of course my house is spotless."
