Smitten Kitchen is as genuine as the Pioneer Woman is not. In fact, there's always been a buzz that Ree Drummond simply copied Deb's blog and added a ranch spin. Ree tried to wine and dine Deb at the ranch early on, but no one was feeling the love. Deb had her site up and running before the PW. Deb has never commented on allegations and she won't. She's waaaay too classy to get caught up in Ree's phoniness. |

I'm the 18:55 poster, and I also posted asking if Smitten Kitchen was legit. And now I'm kind of laughing b/c it was when Deb went to the ranch and posted about it on smitten kitchen that I "discovered" PW and got sucked in to the point where I tried her vile lasagna and chicken soup. LOL! IIRC, Deb was very complimentary toward Ree on that blog post but no harm no foul. |

I made PW's famous Marlboro Man sandwich and it sucked.
But I liked her pot roast -- not that pot roast is hard to do. Still, some versions are pretty bland. |
| I used her turkey recipe at Thanksgiving and it was good. The other recipes I've tried have actually tasted a little boring despite her beautiful photographs. |
|
Yeah, that Drummond/Pioneer Woman gal is always having the blogging types out to the ranch. This one didn't go as planned:

Laughing here. PW must be doing something right to inspire so much vitriol and hate.
|
That's just a bizarre reaction. Rush Limbaugh inspires way more vitriol and hate. What's he "doing right"? |
| What they're both doing right is marketing themselves. Crying all the way to the bank. |
And smitten will always cite the sources for her recipes. |
|
My five year old is obsessed with her.
I know she's a fakey rich lady and her style is totally affected, but whatever. I've tried a few recipes & they worked out. |
Really? I kinda don't think she'd miss a beat. She is tough as nails. |
| No fan of PW here (I've never seen the show or read the blog), but those of you who don't realize that Ina's life is all show are kidding yourselves! All of these shows are staged. Ina is an old friend of Martha's - 'nuff said. |
I don't think anyone doubts that Ina manufactures, to some extent, her "lifestyle." But she doesn't pretend to be just folks, or to do everything alone. Ree, however, claims to be just folks, even as she and her husband are fabulously wealthy, and she claims she does it all by herself - blogging, managing comments, homeschooling, caring for her four kids, helping her husband ranch, cooking for her family and the ranch hands, doing her show - it just doesn't add up, and it's dishonest. And that's before all the recipes she lifts completely without attribution. |
I agree. They don't even live together most of the time. I still love them, though. |
