Exactly, but without the sugar. I find it hilarious how many of you are fat phobic, but probably eat carbs like nobody's business. Healthy fats don't make you fat, but excess carbs certainly do.


This. I do coconut oil in coffee and am lean and have excellent LDL/HDL etc...

Wow, that sounds great! Do you use virgin coconut oil? I can't get over the flavor of that one but was wondering if a more neutral coconut oil would do. Also, after you mix the coffee with your blender, won't the fats separate and form a film on top? Thank you!


I'm the PP you quoted..I use Carrington Farms Extra Virgin Coconut Oil that I buy from Costco when I'm at home, and I have a small(er) jar of Trader Joe's Coconut Oil that I take to work. I briefly read something about how the terminology "extra virgin" really shouldn't/can't be applied to coconut oil, but I don't notice a difference between the two brands.

I pour 8oz coffee into the immersion blender cup with 1tbsp coconut oil, and 1tbsp Kerrygold unsalted grassfed butter. You could do this with a regular blender or a cup/container large enough to let the liquid spin. Once it is blended, there will be just the slightest little layer of "foam," though it is not really a layer of anything. The fats do not separate from the coffee as long as the coffee is warm enough. Don't try to make it with cold coffee. If you want iced bulletproof coffee, make it with hot coffee and then chill it in something like a mason jar

Why coconut oil instead of coconut milk? Seems like the coconut milk would be more appropriate for coffee. Coconut oil looks like Crisco to me.

I've tried coconut milk and it doesn't work for me but it does for many people. I prefer the coconut oil. My skin has never looked better and my bloodwork numbers are awesome.

I have to say that I've read that "recipe" (is three ingredients a recipe?), and I couldn't imagine how butter tasted in coffee. But I guess I do like full cream in my coffee, so...


see if you eat clean, it is fine to use the coconut oil. I suspect that most of the people on this board that would try using it, would also add sugar and wash it all down with a donut.


I also like eating clean donuts the freshest ones off the crispy cream bakery line melt in your mouth.

Fixed that for you. My diet is delicious and keeps me trim. What does yours do for you, aside from make you fear anything that tastes good?


Well, I'm naturally thin, thanks to a lifetime of ballet, so all I have to do it keep at the gym for some muscle and tone. I don't have to resort to putting butter in my coffee that keeps me "full" until lunch. I saw enough disordered eating when I was a competitive dancer...no thanks.

The studies that brought you the information that coconut oil is so terribly bad for you were done with hydrogenated coconut oils. What they found to be so bad about coconut oil turned out to be the trans fat - which, of course, are not in minimally processed coconut oil.

Try reading new research.

I tried the coconut oil/cocoa powder coffee this morning. It's pretty good, but the half teaspoon I used still made an oil slick on the top. How little are you supposed to use?
