splenda and skim milk for me

Chemicals and milk with dye added....awesome

since when is skim milk dye? Splenda is fine.

Because skim milk is pretty heavily processed; it's not just regular milk skimmed of the fat, it's defatted and then things are added (spray-dried milk, dye, other additives) to make it more drinkable. Don't kid yourself that this is a healthy product.

Mine says organic

LOL. I love when people pretty much openly admit that they have no clue what "organic" means.

Getting over my fear of fat helped me lose weight I had struggled to lose on a strict "low fat, whole grains, yada yada" diet. Now I eat a mostly primal diet. I look better, I feel better, and I have more energy.

Wow, that sounds great! Do you use virgin coconut oil? I can't get over the flavor of that one but was wondering if a more neutral coconut oil would do. Also, after you mix the coffee with your blender, won't the fats separate and form a film on top? Thank you!

I'm the PP you quoted..I use Carrington Farms Extra Virgin Coconut Oil that I buy from Costco when I'm at home, and I have a small(er) jar of Trader Joe's Coconut Oil that I take to work. I briefly read something about how the terminology "extra virgin" really shouldn't/can't be applied to coconut oil, but I don't notice a difference between the two brands.

I pour 8oz coffee into the immersion blender cup with 1tbsp coconut oil, and 1tbsp Kerrygold unsalted grassfed butter. You could do this with a regular blender or a cup/container large enough to let the liquid spin. Once it is blended, there will be just the slightest little layer of "foam," though it is not really a layer of anything. The fats do not separate from the coffee as long as the coffee is warm enough. Don't try to make it with cold coffee. If you want iced bulletproof coffee, make it with hot coffee and then chill it in something like a mason jar

I have to say that I've read that "recipe" (is three ingredients a recipe?), and I couldn't imagine how butter tasted in coffee. But I guess I do like full cream in my coffee, so...

see if you eat clean, it is fine to use the coconut oil. I suspect that most of the people on this board that would try using it, would also add sugar and wash it all down with a donut.

I also like eating clean donuts the freshest ones off the crispy cream bakery line melt in your mouth.

Coconut oil is terrible for you. You might as well put butter or lard in your coffee.

Same flavor family, though, especially with PP's suggestion of cocoa powder, too.

I'm pregnant and trying to think of some way to stay fuller a little bit longer in the mornings. It's either undereat slightly and get hungry/have a headache or eat what I think is a good amount and have nasty heartburn. Maybe coconut oil coffee can bridge the gap.

And where did you find that treasure? The Coconut Creme has been my favorite for years.

Target, Safeway, etc... In fridge case with milk and creamer. This ain't your Whole Foods creamer.

Do some research for yourself and you'd see that none of those things are bad for you. Fat is not bad. Your body is made to burn it as fuel. Sugars and carbs wreak havoc on your body, and should not be your body's main source of fuel.

I wonder why people suddenly think coconut oil is healthy. Isn't it saturated fat -- not healthy fat?

Thanks, but I get enough fat from Avocados, nuts, and various oils for cooking. No need to start slurping it up each morning.

Coconut oil is also a very healthy fat. If you eat a diet without processed foods, and do most of your own cooking, adding healthy fats here and there is not a bad thing. I add coconut oil to my coffee in the morning and it keeps me satifsfied until lunch time without snacking.

I'll stick to my mid-morning stack of a half of a fresh avocado and leave the coconut oil for the eggs in the morning.

Not sure if you mean to come across as a "my good fat is better than you good fat", but coconut oil sounds much more disgusting in eggs than in coffee.

It's actually delicious with eggs
