Opinions on WAMU reporters?

Kavitha speaks English waaay too perfectly with her Indian accent. It just is beautiful and painful at the same time. So crisp yet not native.

I do like Kojo though. Interesting topics, IMO and I like Tech Tuesdays.

Kojo is good. Derek Mcginty was excellent. He seems to have faded after leaving his show for TV.

For the most part, I respect all the AMU reporters, but I can't stand Armando Trull. Dude might be one of those guys who "likes" being the general assignment reporter, but man, I would hate it. That's the type of job where they're like "OK, go to some gas station at 5 am in Langley Park and talk to people about how they're going to deal with the snow." Total inconsequential reporting.

Playing the victim makes for great ratings.

How many times you think he heard that line in college?

2-3 is usually the throw away hour when it comes to radio, so you have that to fall back on.

This thread cracks me up. You all are being so mean - these are real people, you know - but I love that it's all about reporters on a local NPR affiliate instead of TV fake faces or Kardashians. Fabulous DC - and DCUM - précis.

I like Michelle Martin and Tell Me More.

I don't understand the people saying they "hate" one reporter or another.

Armando Trull reports on inane topics. It could be just what's assigned to him, but he's also blown it when he's been assigned "real" news. For one, he never goes into the background of a story that could shed some light on why something is happening. And I finally lost all respect for him as a reporter when he was reporting on the Venezuelan elections, when many Venezuelans were lining up to vote here in DC. Perfect chance to showcase his reporting skills and talk about political & social issues, right? But what did he report on instead? The food! The (ethnic) food people waiting in line were eating.

Eleanor Beardsley actually sounds OK when she's not in HD, but it's pretty irritating otherwise. I love Sylvia Poggioli's voice!

Whatever happened to Louisa Lim? I'm surprised no one's mentioned her yet. She was on a lot when NPR/WAMU was reporting on "Noff Kowea"

I couldn't remember her name, but she is the one reporter whose voice makes me change the station.

Not local, but I heart Wade Goodwyn. The way he draaaaaws out certain words. Makes me want to move back to (progressive) Texas.

Michael Pope ends every segment with "I'M Michael Pope." I always picture him popping a blood vessel in his eye when he says it.

Michael Pope bothers me the most for the reason mentioned above. It sounds so egotistical. I think they all produce pretty flat stories, Kavitha Cardoza might be a little better than the others.

She's on sabbatical. Should be back in a bit.
