Opinions on WAMU reporters?

Can't stand her either. Also Maria Hinojosa is super annoying.

My DH just said that WAMU is one big distracting tic.

I think part of the problem is that it is HD radio. You tend to hear more if the mouth sounds. Or at least, that's what I think because it seems to have gotten worse since everything is HD.

I cannot stand Michel Martin and Tell Me More. Such inane topics. The financial expert they sometimes have on is a complete tool.

I do like Kojo though. Interesting topics, IMO and I like Tech Tuesdays.

WAMU news seems to operate from a completely different style manual in the morning versus afternoon. One pet peeve for me is in the morning, they never identify the city as "Washington" anymore. It's "Downtown DeeCee," DeeCee this and DeeCee that. I even heard them say "when Congress meets again in Deecee,' when the name of the federal capital is not "DeeCee." In the afternoon, it's different, a smattering of "Nation's Capital," "Washington" and "DC" when referrring to our local ("Dysfunctional City") government,.

Kojo is entertaining and now seems to be a bit of a local icon. However, from time to time I've found his show to be pretty sloppy on researching stories and checking facts. A few years back, Kojo used his show to skewer a pretty respected community leader (and senior citizen) in Northwest, without giving him a chance to appear and respond. On other occasions, he's cited as 'fact' assertions that they've picked up from the local blogosphere echo chamber: City Paper citinng Greater Washington citing Prince of Petworth, etc. Kojo would do well to hire a staff that actually has solid reporting experience, because it appears they currently do not.

Here's what I guess: Locals call it DC and the morning is local reporting (WAMU reporters). Non-locals call it Washington and the afternoon is national NPR reporting (not WAMU reporters).

I'm a local and I always say DC. Actually I like to say Fight for old DC! Go Redskins!

Cannot stand Kavitah Cardoza, she has such an irritating voice. Literally change the channel when she's on.

Elliot Francis = pure solid gold.

Real folks listen to CSPAN in the mornings, and Steve Scully in the pm.

I know it's not PC to mention it, but I can not listen to Diane Rehm. Mostly because of her voice but also because of her old lady questions and opinions. She ain't what she used to be.

I'm a local, too, and I usually say Washington unless I'm talking about the DC government. I associate "DeeCee" with Marion Barry, Harry Thomas Jr. and the local political Kulture of Klepto-Korruption.

I find her questions pretty well-researched and insightful. Kojo can't hold a candle to her.

What bothers me the most is when she compliments a guest. She speaks so slowly (I know it's a medical condition) and lays it on too thick.

I can not STAND Kojo. He makes lame jokes all the time, and his interviewing is sloppy. And once he did an entire "Kojo in your neighborhood" show in Silver Spring and referred to it as PG County repeatedly.

Plus one my 76 year old mom asked if she was having a stroke. Sorry she was ill and lost her voice for Radio.

It's one thing to have a face for radio, but at WAMU, the voices are even worse.

Half the time I wan to stick a fork in my radio and then another one in my ear in attempting to listen to and comprehend what this most odd lot of English manglers may be attempting to convey.

The only decent human voice is the morning traffic reporter Jerry Edwards.

And the endless begging for money for such horrendous voice "talent"?
