Fairfax County teenager Bryan Glenn

I've been trying to find out if they've announced cause of death. This case has been on my mind big time.

They only found his body yesterday, a full autopsy hasn't even been performed. And if they needed to run a toxicology report, that could take weeks.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Bryan. I can't imagine their pain.

I think it's understandable that, if this is foul play, we'd want to know if someone dangerous is in our area.

This is only my opinion, but if a crime had been committed, i.e. a murder, the police would be looking for the person(s) who committed the crime and the community would most likely be put on alert. In any event, nothing will bring this boy back to the family who lost him, or take away the pain they must now endure. My heart and prayers go out to them all.

Agree that it was horrible for the police to tweet that! What in the world?

I believe they did this due to pressure from the parents. Did they open an investigation into a suspicious death. Did they alert the community to the possiblility of a crime in the park...no...because there was none.

Could that mean he was found hanging? (hung?)

I don't know how someone could be simultaneously hanging but standing. I just shudder to think of all this.

To die you don't have to hang yourself from a height. He could have hung himself by tying a rope at the height of his head then lifting his feet off the ground. The weight of his body and the noose is what would asphyxiate him. Once unconscious, his feet would relax and hang back down to ground level. He might look like he was standing. I know two teenagers who hung themselves from heights less than the height of their body.

How horrible. You would have to have the willpower (for lack of a better word) to keep your feet lifted from the ground. Just horrible. I have been thinking a lot about this poor boy and his family.

My husband used to be a crime scene investigator. He once investigated the death of a man who hanged himself by tying a rope around a post in his yard and leaning forward on his knees. You want to talk about willpower.

I heard that some people hang themselves in front of a mirror probably so they can see themselves die. I also read that for a while the police thought it was unlikely for someone to commit suicide by multiple gunshot wounds. There was a woman who apparently shot herself multiple times and at first they thought it was murder. But it was suicide.

Unless it's an accidental hanging. Auto erotic asphyxiation is not unheard of.

But people who do this are usually naked and not outside.

He doesn't have to be naked, pants down will do, and he may have liked the thrill of being outside. Not saying this is the case.

The speculation is worse than telling us what happened. Though I understand the family wanting privacy at this awful time.

Current situation in Boston where a college student went missing a week ago. They found his body in the Charles River yesterday and it appears he was tied down to a cement brick and then went into the river. They don't know if it was foul play yet, but pretty crazy if he committed suicide. Some people are really determined.

A man climbed up a tree, tied himself tightly to a tree limb and killed himself. It took years before they discovered his remains. I think this was in Germany.

Hate to speculate but I thought from the beginning that he went to the park to engage in homosexual behavior with maybe someone he met online.

If it was indeed suicide, it will be the 2nd by a Woodson student in the past few months and the 3rd in the past year or two.

Suicide rates for males aged 15-19 are about 15:100,000. As high as 45:100,000 in some states and closer to 7:100,000 in other states. At the average rate that is 1 in every 6700 males in that age range that commits suicide.

Two at one school is higher than the average rate but suicides tend to cluster.
