How can I stop getting tiny holes in my t-shirts near my belly button?

I'm trying to figure out why- I have plenty of Gap, Target, other mall and cheaper brands. But I only buy natural fibers in fabrics thick enough to wear without a cami or under-layer (no "tissue" tees), and I don't have granite countertops. Perhaps one of those factors is saving me? I'm so curious about this for some reason.

Me too! I've never heard of this and wear CHEAP Old Navy t-shirts.

I can't take this anymore. I can't believe its from rubbing on my jeans. It seems to be getting worse. I think it may be the fabric coming from the same place. I thought it was just my loft shirts, but its all of the others now. This has been happening the past 2 years. I don't think the jeans have anything to do with it. I have been wearing jeans for 30 years. Why all of a sudden are they ruining my shirts. Please Help!!!

This happens to me as well with my H&M shirts and others as well. I wish I knew, I just figured it was the washing machine.

But, it also started happening only after we put in granite. It is not from pant buttons because i wear many skirts and shorts that do not have any zipper that would be causing the problem - at least i don't think. It is in the same spot where I used to get bleach stains (from bleaching the kitchen coutertops before we put in granite). I guess the kitchen is always going to ruin my clothes regardless of the countertop.

We also have granite, but it is smooth with no hard or jagged edges. How would the granite cause a hole?

I think my buttons assre causing holes in my shirts. What can I do to prevent this? I've tried putting tape over the button.

+1 Driving me crazy! After one washing sometimes. I got my son an American Apparel t-shirt and it even happened at the top near the shoulder. I think it's just cheap, cheap, cheap fabric. It kills me to spend money on this and have it go to the landfill months later.

The style these days is for t-shirts to be much more sheer and drapey. I think this makes them more susceptible to holes. My favorite brand of t-shirt, Splendid, is NOT cheap and it is one of the worst offenders. For me it is definitely from my jeans as it doesn't happen when I wear leggings or maternity pants.

I haven't tucked in my tshirts since 1998.

Really? I love a tucked-in shirt with a cute, bright belt. Am I the only one? (hey it hides the holes.....)

I agree that tucking is kind of back, in the right circumstances, particularly if you have a cute figure. It is a much more pulled together look.

I get them with all my shirts within the last few years, and I only buy good brands and designed. The quality of the fabric is just not there. I thought it might be the seat belt rubbing on the jeans button and have bee trying not to get my shirt under the belt. I only remember most times not all times so I still get the holes but maybe not as soon...ugh

COME ON people! Stop making excuses! Ya'll know the holes are made by the elf that lives in your belly buttons.

I can not believe how many people are having this same issue. I to have been going threw this for some time and I found another one today so I decided to look online. WOW its amazing how many people are having this issue. Has anyone come up with any answers. I do not believe it is bugs, beer bottles or seat belts. Has anyone come up with anything else?

Add me to this this. Never heard of this happening. As a fairly low key SAHM, I live in jeans and tee shirts year round and this has never happened. Even when I was pregnant and my bellybutton was sticking out at all times.

I buy cheap tee shirts on sale from either Lands End, Gap, Target, Costco or Marshalls.

And we have a gas stove and granite countertops fwiw.

Bought a Nordstrom Rack tank-top a month ago and DAMN if it wasn't one week later and I've already got two holes in them. Pisses me off....
