How can I stop getting tiny holes in my t-shirts near my belly button?

I get that problem all the time... like tiny pinholes. I find that washing my shirts in a lingerie bag and air drying them on a drying rack cuts down on the problem.

I have bigger boobs and it happens to me, too. I think it is the belt I wear with jeans plus counter tops.

I only have this problem with tsgirts bought in the last two years. I have a couple shirts that are years old that do not have this problem. There's something in the blends these days that make shirts more likely to pinhole.

PP is right. The synthetic Modal poly / Lycra blends are the WORST. I bought a couple very expensive Splendid shirts from Bloomingdales and the holes started appearing before I even had a chance to wash the shirts. Awful! From now on, no more tissue shirts, only 100% cotton for me. What a scam!

I HATE THIS!! I have ruined so many shirts this way. I started a) wearing an apron in the kitchen so my shirt doesn't rub on the counter and b) pulling my shirt out and over my seat belt while in the car. No more rubbing! I really need to clean out my closet and just get rid of all the holey shirts...

I *think* it's from the corner of the fabric on my pants rubbing against it, although I can't say for sure. Anyone have this problem and can offer a suggestion? I thought about trying to find iron-on patches to prevent them, but the t-shirts in question are pretty thin so the patch would show through.

Come on, OP. Fess up.

We know it's from your belly piercing.

You're on to something.
Methinks DH needs to fund a boobjob to correct this.

I have the same problem, and thought it was because my daily-use purse has a crossbody strap, with a buckle right about belly button level.

I am ridiculously pleased to learn that I am not alone in this.

I'm finding this happens lately even with new expensive thin t-shirts they go into washer fine but come out with small pin holes. it seems to be only in the belly area. I've been speaking to friends and they say its seems to be happening with them as well. Personally Ii think if it was the washer the holes would be in other areas. Its some defect in the material. Because if they are thin cotton t-shirts, it happens in the first wash. it doesnt seem to matter if if I wear pants or not. I started washing my t-shirts in mesh garmet bags and that seems to stop it. So i think the quality of the material is so poor now if the material gets wet and is stretched at all it ends up with fine pin holes.

I have decided that the holes are a result of the fabric rubbing against a belt, or just the button on pants. Yesterday I wore a shirt for the first time, and when I got home from work, it had a tiny hole, which I now know will turn into several tiny holes. I believe the holes are a consequence of poor quality fabric......this didn't happen when all our clothes were made in America--did it? I am now wearing tanks and camis under all my tee shirts. Ridiculous.

I've had it happen to some of my t-shirts, not all. The t-shirts that are hole free are a heavier weight cotton. The t-shirts with holes are some kind of cotton blend.

I initially thought it was from my 2-year old washing machine, as the problem did not appear till I got it....but why would the holes only be in that one area? Then I thought it was from my cat sitting on my lap. Two days ago, I did a quick grocery store run and when I returned home I had a 1-inch hole in my t-shirt in that same area...so my new theory is that it is from the little button on my car seat belt. It is not sharp but I suppose it could grab the fabric.

I'm a 38 GG and this happens to me. Started happening when I was wearing jeans, mainly Gap.

Mine were cat-inflicted. Back claws as she snuggled in on my lap.

PSA -- please stop wearing belts with jeans. It is not 1992. Unless you are tucking in a button up, a sweater, or on the front of a J Crew catalog.

Sorry, but please.
