| You would think INS would take a look at this thread and take action. So simple. But no, it would rather look the other way. Taxpayer dollars wasted!! |
| Another vote for Casa de Maryland. |

Another vote for not hiring illegal workers.
"No lectures please?" What you are doing is illegal and immoral. |
|
Americans don't work hard. They don't want to do actual physical labour. They whine and bitch and moan.
Sorry. I'll stick with my illegals. |

Just a few quick points of clarification for the people on this thread who revel in their ignorance and believe themselves to be "enlightened" -
1) Day laborer is not synonymous with undocumented. In fact, many day laborers have lawful status, but as the country is starting to find out, having the right to work doesn't guarantee you employment. 2) INS doesn't exist anymore. The agency tasked with immigration related issues is called ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). You'd think someone taking a political stand on a parenting message board would at least bother to know the basics of their own government make up. 3) For those who are terrified of being murdered by day laborers: You may have heard of this white, U.S. Citizen PhD student who was in the news this week...I'm quite certain he wasn't a day laborer. 4) OP - I worked at CASA de Maryland for many years and second the recommendation already provided by PPs. Their centers are run by competent, responsible staff, and the day laborers that frequent them are generally good, hardworking people. |
which home depot .... shady grove / bethesda ? |
| Let me know where you decide to hire them. I'll make sure the polie are there to greet you. |
LOL!! Do you you know how much it costs to detain and deport someone? Also, the folks that you vilify are pumping money into the local economy in revenue and sales taxes. But alas, folks only focus on one aspect of the transaction. |
| Case de Maryland. Worked great for us. |
| IS hiring people from Casa de mD legal? (I think it's "right," for what it's worth, but i'd also like to know it's okay to do...) |

Fine but Judy know depending on your job they do not verify citizenship so if you need someone legal it could be a problem. They refused to work with us on that issue. We would not care otherwise. |
+1 |
Legit question - Anyone can work as a day laborer, right? So why don't the unemployeed Americans hang out at home depot or sign up with that Case De maryland to get work? |
Sigh. Its the reality of our country. Sure, it is illegal but I disagree about the morality of it (from other PP). The vast majority of people who harvest apples, oranges, and asparagus are undocumented workers so if you eat fruits or vegetables- you're contributing to the problem. Tree farms and landscaping companies use undocumented workers to prep and transport trees and shrubs. So even if the "legit" companies who dig and fill the holes in your yard depend on "illegal" workers, you're contributing to the problem. That's the argument for amnesty- these people are here, they're not going away, they want to work, and they are an integral part of our economy. Just make it above-the-table already. |
