What do you think of the chevy chase club?

From wikipedia admittedly. But still.

Actually if you read carefully I did not say it was 80k in the 70's and 80's, I was just factoring in inflation, etc. from what it WAS in the 80's the initiation fee WAS 30K... my dad paid it. Beyond that--well, I was a teenager with no concept of money and did not pay much attention to those detiails. If you really think you know what the exact current fees are then say so and stop being such an insufferable asshole about it.

Sample dues from a sample club - $505 per month, meaning $6060 a year, a far cry from the eighty thousand bucks in "annual fees" you are so convinced your rich daddy paid thirty years ago.

Not Congressional. Sample club? What are you even talking about?

You're right! Not Congressional. A different club mentioned on this thread. I'm looking at our bill.

You are just talking about your club's monthly dues though. A lot of clubs have annual fees (that can hit the tens of thousands) in addition to monthly dues. My parent's club (not in this area) has this. It's a pretty hefty annual fee on top of the monthly dues.

Clubs make occasional assessments in the thousands of dollars - for example, for expansion of the physical plant. I have not heard about the kind of "annual fees" you reference for country clubs in this area.
