It's funny that JLG championed soft-on-crime policies that led to a really nutso explosion in crime in the city....

....and then that led to Trump commandeering the DC police force and putting troops on every corner, and that led to a precipitous drop in crime, but also pissed everyone off....

....and then JLG used that widespread antipathy towards Trump to get herself a promotion....

....which she will no doubt now use to revive her pro-criminal policies, which will mean crime will soar once againn....

....and then that will lead to guess what?

NG is only in the wealthy, majority white areas. Just saying.

At this point, the guard has mostly left the city. I only see them in tourist areas. But crime has really abated in the past year.

Looks like we won’t know conclusively until earliest June 21 and latest July 17.

Bullshit. They’re still everywhere they’ve always been.

So mayor bowser was powerless and all the crime should be attributed to JLG? That makes no sense to me.

The sky is falling. Oh no. We should all go hide in our second homes in FL and play golf.

Mcfluffie ran a crappy campaign. This race should have been his to lose. He seemed annoyed at being asked questions and gave the impression, maybe unwittingly, that he was entitled to be mayor.

don't let the door hit you on the way out!

Why did Bowser never officially endorse McDuffie? Does anyone know? He is basically Bowser 2.0.

Dude sent his kids to GDS. Why would any public school parent vote for him?

I am a public school parent who voted for him. I voted for him because I thought her ideas were ridiculous-

72,000 new homes in a city with a 1 BILLION dollar budget shortfall?

Also, how many of us live in DC? Apx 500,000. So she is planning on building housing with negative dollars for more than 10 percent of the city’s residents.

Also, have you ever been in DC housing … I have and it is a blight. DC should NOT be in the business of running housing (or grocery stores). FOcus on schools, roads, trash and rats. AND for heavens sake getting rid of the landlords who take advantage of the voucher program and who do not maintain their buildings!! Let’s go DC.

So those (above) are some facts and substance…

Now, the deciding vote on the council is going to be significantly to the left of where it has been.

Hopefully, JLG is smart enough to know that you can probably raise UMC taxes to deal with our tough fiscal situation and not see a bunch of flight SO LONG AS you don’t ruin the schools and police.

Good luck with that.

We know JLG is incapable of cutting spending. We know that she does not give a fig about crime. We know that she will do whatever the teachers union tells her.

Probably safe to predict that crime will go up substantially. Taxes will go up substantially too, which will worsen DC's already pretty bad unemployment problem. Schools are definitely not going to get better; more likely, they will get worse.

Perhaps a Mayor Trump wouldn't be so bad.

+1. He really should have stepped it up in so many ways. Probably also got some bad campaign advice.

Because at least he wouldn't make schools a lot worse? Definitely can't say that about JLG.
