My unpopular opinion - pockets in dresses are dumb

Yes, I'll just put on my useful pinafore the next time I head out.

I know you’re being silly, but we need to bring back aprons with deep pockets. I saw some brand called This is My Hose Dress, but I don’t look good on the available colors.

When was the last time you went anywhere? Transit cards, money, and tickets are all kept on phones these days. Your post sounds like you time traveled from the 90s.

I’m the PP. I travel a few times internationally every year. I’m in Bordeaux right now. Montreal last week. Copenhagen in March. You should always have some cash for local food markets. Some places you don’t want to be pulling out your phone all the time or needing to buy an sim or eSIM to tap in and out. Or adding apps to your phone. And lastly I have a DS who collects transit cards from around the world. So they make a nice souvenir of travels. As do other tickets - to the opera etc.

Yeah, when it is a Real Feel 107 and I have to take the dog for a quick walk to take a dump I am very unconcerned about letting my linen schmatta "shine." Aprons and pinafores are not in the equation.

I thought you were going to say that at real feel 107 you just wear a pinafore without the dress.

Now there's an idea!

I’m petite and the pockets always hang too low. Even still, I like them. I put my iPhone in them to walk around while listening to books on tapes.

Agree with this opinion. The pockets add extra bulk around my hips, exactly where I don’t need it.

The material is bulky and bulgy. It makes a very unpolished look. They just look bad. Sorry, bc I know they are useful. But, it does make your appearance look sloppy.

If pockets set into seams show, It's not a well designed or constructed garment.

Pockets are awesome. My wedding dress had pockets and I was so grateful to have somewhere to stash my phone and Kleenex

Just have a tailor remove the pockets if you don’t like them. I want pockets in EVERYTHING and I would like my jeans to have real pockets instead of half pockets.

I attended an outdoor graduation party last night and knew that I wouldn’t want to carry my purse around. I was happy that pockets in my dress for my phone and one for a lipstick.

Pockets are good for giving you more options.

Maybe you choose to be practical and care less about how your phone or wallet in the pocket looks. And other times, you’d rather carry a purse and not use the pocket.

You do have to choose dresses with well hidden pockets or pockets that don’t make you look wider. I have a dress with an interior kangaroo pocket- this works really well because there are no bulges on your hips and that pocket is so functional.

Yes, sweetheart, we are all allowed to have our own opinions. Poochie needs his snackies!!!

I don't think we should ban pockets because clearly a lot of people use them, but I don't. I find that if I put anything in them, it weighs the dress down or looks weird. So I just keep carrying my purse.
