Vigil for man killed in Arlington 7-11 barricade standoff tonight

DCUM has really gone downhill. Completely taken over by nutjob conservatives who post this kind of bullshit all the time. And you just know that they don’t live in Arlington, DC or wherever.

i would have a vigil for the wasted bullets

I find the best way to not get shot is to avoid putting yourself in a position to potentially be shot.

Where did you read that he had attempted to kill someone? The article says he verbally threatened her, and brandished (waved) a knife. Threatening someone is obviously wrong, but it's totally different from attempting to kill someone.

Same. If you have a mental health episode, just sit down until it's over. If you're depressed, just do something that makes you happy. If you're having an anxiety attack, go to your happy place.

You are a genius, PP!

What does this even mean?

It means that the cops will need to take a few stab wounds. Just one or two should be enough.

Don’t become a cop if you can’t handle a homeless person without pulling a gun.

We basically already don’t have enough people who want to be cops as is. Just look at ICE.

There’s only so many people who can do Jedi mind tricks on crazy people for 30 years without ever making a mistake and getting paid half of what some office drone makes.

You forgot the whole brandishing a deadly weapon thing. If you present as a deadly threat you may get un-alived.

Why can’t you understand that having a knife can make you a deadly threat?

Arlington County PD’s starting salary goes up to $90k on July 1st. The median starting salary for a UVA grad is $64,500. The median for CS is $85,800. That tuition is a painful opportunity cost compared to becoming an ACPD officer.

I agree with your general point. But the comparison you've used is apples and oranges because you're looking at nationwide UVA salaries, versus salaries for a police officer only in Arlington. The median starting salary nationwide for a police officer is around $60-$65K.

So the same as a UVA grad starting salary?

Verbally threatening someone and waving a knife if not the same thing as attempting to kill someone.

Where does it say he attempted to kill her?
