IDF soldier destroys Jesus statue in southern Lebanon

Anonymous
It's kind of crazy. But, oh my lord, the Israelis are more afraid of this picture than anything they've done so far.

I've never seen these types of responses, either from Bibi or his brigades, to anything else.

It makes sense, they Talibaned a Crucifix, during their war of territorial expansion and ethnic (including Christians) cleansing in Southern Lebanon while the most ill thought out and unpopular war in history, which they suggested to Trump, is happening in Iran.

If this were some soldier in the US military, the entire chain of command all they way up to general would be removed from duty for encouraging and allowing the desecration of religious symbols. That is a failure of command.

But the IDF does this all the time. It's a band of thugs, which we support with billions of tax dollars.

This solider will probably be celebrated as a hero once he returns from Lebanon. No different than how the IDF soldiers who raped Palestinians and became national celebrities.

Does someone still today believe that the bible or the Torah contains the actual word of God?
Israelis are known to hate the cross as much as the swastika, aside from occasional lip service gain financially from lunatics in the US.
I am sure I am not the only one to think that there would be peace if only people stopped clowning around with religion!!
As a side note, some churches are ancient. You cannot just rebuild a statue.

I’ve never seen Netanyahu apologize for anything before. This is interesting

Because willfully destroying a statue of Jesus Christ has a lot of symbolic importance. And that kind of hatred for "others" seems to be the norm in Israel today. Obviously, there are consequences. Israel continues to isolate themselves from the rest of humanity. I don't understand for a minute why this kind of extremism is a win for Israel. Israelis are no different than the Taliban destroying the Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan. They are religious extremists today. But unlike Afghans, Israelis willfully chose Netanyahu and the extremist parties.

DP. You know this was condemned all over Israel, from the top right on down - right?? This despicable action was taken by ONE IDF soldier and condemned by everyone else, to include Netanyahu and Huckabee. Maybe try actually reading the link before smearing all of Israel.

bullcrap

That "one" IDF soldier was just finishing the bulldozing/destruction that was ordered by Bibi et al. He wasn't acting out of line or disobeying orders. He was following them. The Government only cares because it was caught on film.

You are insane. Netanyahu condemned the actions of this one soldier. You know that, but you still continue to lie. Grow up.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday he was “stunned and saddened” by the photo.

“I condemn the act in the strongest terms,” Netanyahu said in a post on X. “We express regret for the incident and for any hurt this has caused to believers in Lebanon and around the world,” he added.

“The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasizes that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” the IDF said in a statement, resharing a post by Palestinian journalist Younis Tirawi that had circulated widely on social media.

The IDF said the incident is being further investigated, and appropriate measures will be taken against those involved. The Israeli military was also working to assist the community in restoring the statue to its place, the statement said.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the photo “grave and disgraceful,” saying in a statement on X that he commended the IDF for its condemnation.

“I’m confident that the necessary strict measures will be taken against whoever carried out this ugly act,” Saar said.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said in a post on X that "swift, severe, & public consequences are needed" for what he called an "outrageous act."

You clearly didn't read what I said.

They only give a crap because it was photographed and it makes them look bad. Every building, including Churches, in Southern Lebanon was ordered bulldozed and erased from existence. Crucifixes attached to those buildings would logically be included.

They're scapegoating the soldier and it's very telling that neither Bibi nor Huckabee even mentioned the Church that the Crucifix in question used to be attached to.

Oh, please. This ugly act was condemned. The end. Move on.

Are they rebuilding the Church?

Not a church. A statue in someone's garden. MOVE ON.

That makes it even worse. Why are they at these properties? What an undisciplined joke of an army. They did the same thing in Gaza: the soldiers would dress in lingerie found at Gaza homes and send back clothing and jewelry from dead or displaced Gazan houses back to their spouses and families in Israel. They are a death cult. War is a time for souvenir collecting for these ghouls

Netanyahu knows he needs American evangelicals to support his war machine. So taking a sledgehammer to a statue of Christ was an oopsie and he'll pinkie promise to never do it again.

Did you even read your link?? This was condemned by Israel, the IDF, and Huckabee. Love the way you leave all of that out.

Only because they got caught. The brutality of the extremist group of settlers get away with terrorizing Palestinians, stealing or destroying their property because there’s no video. The soldiers are just as bad and don’t hide their hatred for other groups of people.

Why are the soldiers in a predominantly Catholic village destroying private property ? That’s even worse.

They want to “Palestine” Lebanon and Southern Syria. They want to settle in these lands and more. They gaslight and pretend the Greater Israel project is a conspiracy. It’s not. This is not an Israeli Palestinian conflict. It’s a broader Middle Eastern land conflict perpetuated by Israel. Lebanon is the size of Connecticut. Israel is like three times or more the size of Lebanon but they still want it. This is called bullying. We sanctioned Putin for invading Crimea. We don’t have the balls to sanction the rogue state of Israel. A nation that the international community has never stood up to or properly reprimanded

This Jesus incident single-handedly could destroy Israel’s credibility in the Us. Israel’s always relied on Islamophobia, Judeo Christian unity against “terrorists”, and the Americans assuming all Arab/Middle Eastern countries don’t have Christians or annihilate/ ban Christians as infidels so this little incident alone breaks all three prongs of Israeli public relations in the West. It’s rather rich that Iran was criticizing Donald Trump for insulting Jesus and Hezbollah was passing out Palms on Palm Sunday and passed out Christmas trees on Christmas while Israel gets the glory as the friend of western values. Isn’t Christianity or liberal principles like religious freedom and human and property rights the value system of the west or is it something else now? Israel
Violates all and more

In our world, Jesus pictures on social media matter more than actual human lives. Netyanyahu is shrewd.

You... think that Jesus was conservative?!

Jesus is maga

Unlike you, I've read the Bible. Jesus Christ is the antithesis of MAGA.

Jesus is a total liberal.

Meanwhile reports are coming out that Israeli soldiers train dogs to rape Palestinian prisoners but nothing will happen to those guys obviously.
