You... think that Jesus was conservative?!

Jesus is maga

Unlike you, I've read the Bible. Jesus Christ is the antithesis of MAGA.

Because willfully destroying a statue of Jesus Christ has a lot of symbolic importance. And that kind of hatred for "others" seems to be the norm in Israel today. Obviously, there are consequences. Israel continues to isolate themselves from the rest of humanity. I don't understand for a minute why this kind of extremism is a win for Israel. Israelis are no different than the Taliban destroying the Buddhas of Bamiyan in Afghanistan. They are religious extremists today. But unlike Afghans, Israelis willfully chose Netanyahu and the extremist parties.

DP. You know this was condemned all over Israel, from the top right on down - right?? This despicable action was taken by ONE IDF soldier and condemned by everyone else, to include Netanyahu and Huckabee. Maybe try actually reading the link before smearing all of Israel.

bullcrap

That "one" IDF soldier was just finishing the bulldozing/destruction that was ordered by Bibi et al. He wasn't acting out of line or disobeying orders. He was following them. The Government only cares because it was caught on film.

You are insane. Netanyahu condemned the actions of this one soldier. You know that, but you still continue to lie. Grow up.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Monday he was “stunned and saddened” by the photo.

“I condemn the act in the strongest terms,” Netanyahu said in a post on X. “We express regret for the incident and for any hurt this has caused to believers in Lebanon and around the world,” he added.

“The IDF views the incident with great severity and emphasizes that the soldier’s conduct is wholly inconsistent with the values expected of its troops,” the IDF said in a statement, resharing a post by Palestinian journalist Younis Tirawi that had circulated widely on social media.

The IDF said the incident is being further investigated, and appropriate measures will be taken against those involved. The Israeli military was also working to assist the community in restoring the statue to its place, the statement said.

Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar called the photo “grave and disgraceful,” saying in a statement on X that he commended the IDF for its condemnation.

“I’m confident that the necessary strict measures will be taken against whoever carried out this ugly act,” Saar said.

U.S. Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee said in a post on X that "swift, severe, & public consequences are needed" for what he called an "outrageous act."

You clearly didn't read what I said.

They only give a crap because it was photographed and it makes them look bad. Every building, including Churches, in Southern Lebanon was ordered bulldozed and erased from existence. Crucifixes attached to those buildings would logically be included.

They're scapegoating the soldier and it's very telling that neither Bibi nor Huckabee even mentioned the Church that the Crucifix in question used to be attached to.

How are they "restoring the statue to its place" when the building it used to be attached to got bulldozed?

It was in someone's garden, not a church.

Fadi Felfle, a priest in Debel, confirmed that the cross was part of a small shrine situated in the garden of a family residing on the edge of the village.

What's been very clear since Gaza is that the IDF is not a professional military. If this were some soldier in the US military, the entire chain of command all they way up to general would be removed from duty for encouraging and allowing the desecration of religious symbols. That is a failure of command.

But the IDF does this all the time. It's a band of thugs, which we support with billions of tax dollars.
