Yea, best in America. That’s why billionaire children and kids of celebrities fight tooth and nail to live in Milburn, so their kids can be exposed to staggering genius and drive. |
They have to do more to stand out because, like their suburban parents, the kids are unremarkable. They are your 200k HHI, 2.1 kids, summer rental (2 weeks) families. That’s all fine but city families really demand more from life. |
Wow. You are really embarrassing yourself. Your ignorant Manhattan-centric provincialism is making you look like an idiot. But keep on keeping on. Not to dignify you with a response, but did you know that David Tepper's kids went to Livingston HS (same area as Millburn and Summit since you clearly never cross the river). I'm guessing he has a few more zeros at the end of his bank account than you. |
Calling teenagers "unremarkable" is a... choice. |
lol |
I cross the river to go to Tuxedo. Tepper, not exactly a society family. Glad to know the offspring of some average Joes knows his place and stays in NJ while the pedigrees live in Manhattan. |
Yep. Are you saying every teen is remarkable? |
I really, really would never want to live somewhere it is common to say “we are better than you and acceptable because of our bank account.” It is greasy, penny proud striverism. Having money is table stakes. Accomplishment, the arts, and erudition are what money makes possible. Of course, if you’re in Milburn you beg for a .000001 boost to your inflated GPA to get into Bucknell |

They were the one who went on and on about their expertise with squash. So sad. Anyhoo, what were we discussing before we were so rudely interrupted... |
| You were discussing how amazing the talent pool in milburn is and how one billionaire foolishly deciding to live in NJ makes it super desirable (like the Waltons in AR…..) |
| When is the OP having a meeting with the school to discuss the full list of options rather than just Dwight that they mentioned? |
| The TL:dr of this thread is don’t go to Trinity or be close to the opera with Losers, live in NJ with guido billionaire savants! |

Op’s issue stems from miscommunication.
Even at TT only 30%-40% of the kids go to top colleges. Your average kids at a TT would be doing “fine” and wouldn’t necessarily need a tutor(s) because they are not at the bottom of the class and not getting Cs, but they won’t get into a top 20 college. When OP’s school said her son was doing “fine” and doesn’t need tutoring it really just meant that: he is doing fine, but not great. OP somehow thought the average student from their school would end up at a TT. So there is mis-communication and mis-match in expectations. |
Where are the median and 25-75th percentile students in K-8 going then? If it’s not TT, shouldn’t OP have known? And if the median student doesn’t have a shot at a TT, why spend the money? |
