Any insights on Northwestern waitlist? Is it moving?

Yes. Soon they will start their waitlist yield management by calling private school counselors, asking who will accept their waitlist offer. Happened last year.

Does UMich call only those elite private schools? The waitlisted kids at my son’s school were told that they should just wait — there’s absolutely nothing either the students or the counselors could do!

That’s a non-elite private high school.

How does such a high school manage to hire a less incompetent college counselor? I know these jobs are very low-paid, so I’m not complaining at all (just pointing out the obvious).

WF doesn’t publish its waitlist data. According to the CDS, last year Davidson offered 1,968 students a spot on the waitlist, 953 went on the waitlist, and 28 were offered admission.

Multiple reports (meaning 2+ kids) of Wake Forest making calls to their waitlist in the last 48 hours.

Well, some poster’s friend lied to them and said their kid got into Duke after being deferred and waitlisted RD.

Middlebury and Wash U.

BU has been calling up our school counselor to ask if they know if they have a chance to yield specific people they have on the waitlist if they give them an offer, before they give an offer. Is this an informal ED3?

Many schools do that - they won’t offer the spot officially unless it’s an accepted
