Anyone have any insights on waitlist movement for Wake Forest and/or Davidson for this year or trends from prior years?

WF moved quite a bit last year but not until later on... Mid or late May?

Differed from ED and waitlisted at RD then accepted

Duke does not waitlist ED deferrals.

Yes. Soon they will start their waitlist yield management by calling private school counselors, asking who will accept their waitlist offer. Happened last year.

Friends kid into northwestern. But wants Michigan (waitlisted).

Private HS. College Counselor said to expect a call before the end of the month.

What would you advise your kid to do? Likely consulting career; major unclear.

Stay committed to Northwestern because its 3 entire flights of stairs above Michigan.

I could not agree more. The size of these two schools alone is just so different. They are going to get a far more personal experience at Northwestern over Michigan (which is just so large and from what I have heard from other parents, it is sink or swim with very little guidance or counseling).

Michigan might not take that many kids this year because part of their class was filled with ED for the first time ever. No one knows what percent-20%? It may be enough that the waitlist numbers drop.

Yes, it makes sense that, especially for private schools, the introduction of ED pulled that “if we admit you, will you attend?” question up to earlier in the year.

Also, it may not be rational, but winning the NCAAmbb tournament in April isn’t going to hurt yield.

Does UMich call only those elite private schools? The waitlisted kids at my son’s school were told that they should just wait — there’s absolutely nothing either the students or the counselors could do!

That’s a non-elite private high school.
