Are we abandoning Israel?

Italian Prime Minister now supports sanctions against Israel. Other countries need to follow. Israel is infinitely worse than apartheid South Africa and needs to be treated as such.

We should blockade Israel.

Retreating from this war does not constitute and abandonment of Israel. They will still have weapons deals with the West, and they will still occupy Lebanon. Sadly.

However, the image of Israel as the victim in the Middle East is shattered for this generation.

lol the EU only goes along with the US on Israel. No NATO and 25% tariffs will allow the EU to go their own way. They will put sanctions on Israel.

PP you replied to. I don't think so. I am French, and we deal with the legacy of WWII and the Holocaust in a way Americans cannot understand. I don't think the EU will abandon Israel anytime soon.

How old are you? If you're over 30, you can tell yourself that. But younger people see Israel for the terrorist state it is.

Both Israel and Iran are terrorists states and in both cases, most of the citizens are decent loving people.

I’m not sure if this is true for the citizens of Israel but nevertheless, all people have human rights. Israelis have the right to self determination and they can do whatever they want, just not at our expense.

No this ceasefire is a scam. It’s a way to bide time for Israel to reconstruct the defenses Iran destroyed and the US to build more bombs. Stay tuned for Iran war part 3 continued in 2027.

I am 100% behind stopping all funding, all arms sales to Israel. NONE.

The slaughter of Palestinians in Gaza is so horrifying that I can no longer in good conscience support Israel, a country that is committing genocide and now is attacking and killing people in neighboring countries.

No more do I support Israel, and I probably never will again. This is too much. The US should stop giving this regime money, our tax money. Just. Stop.

Anonymous wrote:Oh it’s bigger vs that. We will leave the region because we can not afford the cost of the bases. How many thousands of interceptors missiles and radars are needed to secure US bases in the gulf?

There are 12-13 bases. Minimum needs about 1,000 $12.5 million dollar interceptor missiles per base. So starting price is 12.5 billion. Now add in hardening everything, building bomb proof aircraft hangers, replacing billion dollar radars, etc. Next up is anti drone protection. You will have to double the defense budget just to maintain your bases.

Add in we can’t build the interceptor that fast?

Sounds like we need to reduce our oil dependence.

We've needed to do that for decades. We are a major exporter but we aren't very well positioned to refine our own. Stupid. And we have a numb-nuts POTUS and admin trying to completely undermine renewables. Bunch of complete morons.

We have more than paid enough for Israel’s defense. Even after they were credibly accused it war crimes.

We just fought a war on their behalf.

Really, it’s enough.

DP. "Younger people" - presumably, like you - are just showing your profound ignorance. You really, really want to forget the Holocaust ever existed. I imagine you like to tell yourself it actually didn't happen, amirite?

There's a current Holocaust occurring In Palestine right now. The German Holocaust ended 80 years ago.

Trump is going to do whatever he wants. He abandoned Ukraine and wrecked the NATO alliance. There is no precedent for this stuff.

We should indeed abandon Israel and let the chips fall where they may. It's led by despicable religious zealots and supremacists who view Muslims and Christians as lesser human beings and have no problem murdering children and bombing cities. They deserve neither financial nor moral support, and have already done great damage to America's global reputation.

The Democratic leadership was more hostile to Zohran Mamdani than the war on Iran.

I agree- culturally Isreal is part of europe and there are strong ties, nor should Isreal be abandoned. However- the mass migration is changing europe and Europeans are reacting to it in very strange ways, culturally. The current Israeli government is on course to do a LOT of harm so it needs to be reined in to a more liberal, less reactionary government b/c the wars in the Middle East are causing massive amounts of migration. these migrants are running from what they perceive as certain death to a 25% chance of death by drowning, the desperation is very real and you aren't going to be able to keep the refugees in banlieue forever with no consequences. young French people there as well. there are plenty of younger people who also either sympathize with the Muslim population and are ok with them staying or recognize that the wars are what is driving them so must stop. Look at the AFD- they are against the war with Iran not b/c they care about Iran but b/c they dont want Iranian refugees. The truth is that if these nations are allowed to flourish and build up economically- remigration will happen naturally.

think about the Lebanese- they think they are French, but if Beirut was safe and glorious the way to was pre-1970's. so many of them would go back to Lebanon and out of Paris. at most they would "divide' their time and still run Universal Bouly but 1/2 of the Lebanese cafes dotted all over Paris would disappear-- many of them would go back. they are in France b/c of Isreal.

I am a single-issue voter when it comes to funding Israel---any politician supporting funding this terrorist nation will not receive my vote, and I will strongly support primarying them.

It's still a mystery to you? Why wouldn't our corrupt politicians exchange hundreds of billions of tax payer dollars for hundreds of millions of campaign finance dollars? Do you have any clue how corrupt our political system has become? This Israel relationship is just one example of our politicians selling out average Americans to please the interests of their wealthy donors. There are many others that aren't as glowingly obvious to the regular people.

Before casting another vote for a national politician, go to https://www.opensecrets.org/ and search to find out if the politicians on the ballot have accepted any funds funneled through political action committees or other lobbying groups. I will never vote for another politician who has received more 1k from a single person, source, or entity. If you really care and want to make a difference, join me.

Preach, brother. I'm the OP. I agree. We should only be voting / campaigning for politicans that voluntarily reject Citizen's United and only fund themselves through small donors.

this is actually brilliant! spread the word, everyone should do this.

No- you are wrong, younger people and history buffs realize that the scope of the holocaust is much larger than 6 million, it ws 12-14 million who died in the camps. the only people who want people to forget are the Israelis, they certainly dont want anyone to remember that there were other victims of teh Nazi brutality or that there were colored victims of teh allies who were just caught up in freedom fighting from brutal colonization and couldn't care less about any European power- they were ALL BAD. Its teh Isrealis who dont want anyone to learn anything from the war-- they want everyone to forget about the Geneva convention. to forget about the horror people faced upto and tried to prevent from happening again by their rejection of all the norms of warfare that were established as a reaction to the horrors of the world wars as well as the systematic undermining of institutions that were created to limit conflict like Nato and the UN b/c they constrain plans for Greater Isreal. so no, its the Isrealis who want people to forget the horrors or to accept that humanity is incapable of learning of learning from history. of the few survivors left- many are incredibly vocal against this current regime & speak out against what is happening, how many support it??? I can think of one in support and 5 against off the top of my head.

We need an atheist who will campaign on ending Citizens United and fully using presidential immunity for good, not evil.

I'm Catholic, and as a young girl I questioned why people needed to "pray" to saints or confess to ordinary men labeled priests, many of whom were/are predators. False idols rule the world.
