If Emory got more apps, it means that more people applied there. That’s ALL it means. It means nothing related to the quality of the institution. |
| Both are no fun schools. |
This is true only under the assumption that schools become popular for no substantative reason whatsoever. |
| Both are safety schools. Slightly abovev Carnegie Mellon and URochester. |
No it’s not- Emory’s acceptance rate is still a bit higher than WashU’s. But this isn’t OP’s question. OP, both schools are well regarded but culturally they are very different. I’d recommend visiting both to get a sense of which best fits your personality. |
I don’t mean to cause more fighting about school ranking. But sometime some posts really challenge my common sense. Do you seriously put CMU with URochester? |
| Funny, we know a handful of very bright, competitive kids who were torn between these schools and applied ED1 to one with plans to apply ED2 to the other, and also sibling pairs at the two schools. We're in NJ. They are just very similar schools - not ivies, privates, known in the "right circles" for kids who want a very particular kind of experience. |
Everything about that was trolling. Sub-15% admit rate schools are not safety schools. Best just to ignore those posts. Or report them. |
yes it is. https://apply.web.emory.edu/discover/about/first-year.html Emory College- 10.3% Oxford- 13.3% |
|
2 schools with no sports/school spirit. No way.

You seem to equate sports with school spirit which is a false assumption. Both schools have school spirit, just not the kind you die for. You do you and continue looking for colleges where the traditions are binge drinking, chanting at games, and pretending that wearing Greek letters counts as a personality trait. |
https://news.emory.edu/stories/2025/03/er_admissions_class_of__2029_28-03-2025/story.html Both sources say 15% acceptance rate. |
Emory mom/troll doesn't like facts to get in her way of propping up the school. |
Which is crazy because it’s still a great school and 15% acceptance rate still makes it still highly competitive. No need to embellish but facts are facts. |
