Your comparison is specious. Solar power is passive. The sun’s energy exists no matter what happen. Fossil fuels are buried, have to extract and refined before use. When they are used they lose 80% of the energy in thermal loss. ICE and EV vehicles are the same. Energy is put the tank or the battery and used. There is no energy conversion machine or post energy machine. EVs are highly efficient while the burning fossil fuels are not. Let’s look at a larger level. Fossil fuel economies lose 5-7% of GDP because they paid for energy that is wasted. The future will be divided in to economies that are electrified and those that are not. Look at Australia. Australia has increased their electricity grid capacity by 7.5% in 2024 and 7% in 2025 and reduced wholesale electricity price by 64%. They are actually attractive data centers because energy is so cheap. Business are quickly electrifying every process they can because they save money- heat pumps for heating and cooling, fleet vehicles, industrial heating and cooling, etc. The proof is in the investments. 2/3 of the world’s energy investment is now in future renewables(mostly solar) projects and the rest is split among fossil fuels. Why do you think the major oil companies are actively working against Trump’s bans on wind power. They are the invest in it. So carry with your crazy talk. The money is dictating what will happen not your political talking points. |
| EVs just perpetuate a failed transportation model, by merely substituting the energy source. Its a strategic imperative to get people to live closer to work/remote work/bike to work/take public transit instead. Especially if we're going to keep letting Israeli neo-cons buy our politicians and start wars. |
There are several different levels to this. We aren't going to have jobs to go to if our politicians have big tech replace us all with AI and robots. We won't be able to afford cars or mass transit or housing if we don't have an economic mitigation strategy such as universal basic income funded by the tech industry. Meanwhile, EVs are a mitigation strategy for fossil fuel. EVs are a mitigation strategy for underinvestment in mass transit and boomer-mentality managers who are evidently only capable of measuring productivity by the number of asses they see in in seats. Wars happen because of dependence on oil and politicians who let religion and other irrelevant bullshit mix with governance, along with ignoring these kinds of long slow burn issues that will ultimately lead to resource and societal crises. |
Ding ding ding, we have a winner! |
I'm sitting here in my military spec BDU cargo shorts WFH! OMG no one cares about EV. WFH! |
$8 billion. 6 charging stations. How many did Trump build? |
|
Biden failed at EV i
Stations. |
It takes years to get the permits and coordinate with the local utilities for grid optimization and local government for zoning. The money was put in place for jurisdictions to work through these issues. When you spout what you did, it is a right wing talking point and is simply ignorant of facts. |
| Because it is not a build it and they will come issue. Number of charging stations will not stimulate EV demand. |
Biden’s plan was to build 500,000 by 2030. After delays cause by Trump and republicans, Biden’s project is starting to ramp up. 24,000 were built last year and more states are joining this year. Remember red states created red tape and fought the construction of charging stations. Red states are actually taking charging stations out. Never had a problem finding a charging station when I make road trips. I imagine a place like Texas of Florida will not have any charging stations. So those state must be avoided. Red states will never have EV or EV heavy duty semi trucks. So driving and shipping in those state will remain costly. Most people plunge in at home once a week. $17 for an equivalent of 20 gallons of gas. I find people who have never driven an EV can not talk intelligently about EVs. They think you have to charge it every time you stop. |
When gas is 7 dollars a gallon and you can "fill up" an EV for $15 or with solar, free, yes it will. Also, if more retail drivers use EV's it frees up demand on fossil fuel for platforms that need it, like Jet fuel, diesel for trucks etc. thus keeping those prices lower. |
Yep the Chinese will. $22,000 for a car with 930 mile range that charges to 80% in 5 minutes. Republicans will do everything they can to stop these cars from coming in to the US. Hear the Republicans want to make everyone go back to horse and buggy. |
|
Why? Because it's left-coded.
Though Texas has a lot of windmills. |
