why didnt the US build up EV infrastructure again?

Wow, look at that - US invades yet another ME country, and this time it looks like it is catastrophic. Saudi Aramco is warning global energy infrastructure is on the verge of collapse. It will be real fun paying $9/gallon for gas.

Why has the US not moved on from completely obsolete tech (ICE) that is 200 years old? Iran's threats would matter far less if we had more robust transportation immune to energy shocks. Why is this so hard to understand? EVs FTW

So you’ve paid no attention to this debate and you need it explained to you?

Biden passed several huge bills addressing this problem and Trump came back and is destroying that agenda because the oil companies gave him a billion dollars.

Here’s just one result this week

Trump also hates solar and wind so he suspended funding for multiple projects that were almost complete.

Trump… and the people who voted for him. Americans, too, are stuck on coal and gas and their huge gas-guzzlers.

Maybe high gas prices will force the sustainable energy hand in America.

It should be noted that while Trump has done significant damage to the spread of EVs in the U.S., he has not killed the industry by any means. EVs are currently a very valid choice, especially if you are in a situation to install a home charger (and even more if you can also install solar panels).

My family has 4 EVs and with home charging and solar panels, are feeling pretty good right now. We have taken long road trips with the cars and haven't found any limitations. A little extra planning may be necessary, but that's all. One kid drives his car back and forth to college and has had no issue.

There are several very good options for EVs available from both U.S. and foreign manufacturers. Public charging is becoming more available every day. There are a very few exceptions where EVs won't work, but for most of us they are a good choice. Despite the hostility of the Trump administration to EVs, don't be afraid to jump on the bandwagon.

How much time did Biden have to build EV charging stations?

How many did Biden build?

We were a more intelligent society in the 1890s.

This. I told some MAGA relatives who can't explain their love of going to the gas station that I have an EV, and they got all worked up and huffy and insisted I made a mistake and will end up with expensive repairs.

37. These stations require years of studies and planning.

A U.S. Federal Highway Administration spokesperson told PolitiFact the two federal programs have so far funded 37 charging stations. Like gas stations, EV charging stations can have multiple charging points.

Of the 37 federally funded stations built in 13 states, there are 226 charging ports, said Rachael Dussuau, the Federal Highway Administration’s associate public affairs administrator. As of Dec. 3, Dussuau said there are projects underway for 24,800 federally funded charging ports.
...
To get money from the 2021 law, states and agencies must submit plans to an office run jointly by the Energy and Transportation departments. The Federal Highway Administration approves the plans; state and local jurisdictions oversee construction.

LOL! And how much money was budgeted? Tesla seems to get it done.

US automakers wrote off $55 billion in EV investments because of Trump. US car manufacturers stopped construction of EV and battery plants in the US after Trump removed the EV incentives. The EV incentives estimated cost to the US government was $10 billion. If the EV and battery plants had been built out the total investment by would have been about $140 billion. The estimates to get Venezuela oil production restored is $100-$180 billion.

The automotive and business press like to frame this as the collapse of the EV market. Maybe in the US market(16% of the world’s new car market) but not in the rest of the world. Last year EVs were 25% of new car sales world wide. This was projected to grow at 20-25% for the next five years when oil was $55 a barrel.

Saw an interesting story on the LNG that has been shut down because of the Iran war. This is 20% of the LNG market. To replace that loss Europe and Asia would have to add the same amount of solar capacity they added last year. It actually cost less to build a solar power plant vs coal, natural gas or nuclear plant. So less money to build, no fuel cost to run and quicker return on your investment because solar plant can be built in a year.

After the Trump 2025 funding freeze more than 24,000 charging ports currently under construction or planning across 13 states. There are now over 235,000 publicly available charging ports in the U.S. This is double the number from 2021.

MAGA was against EVs, until Musk dumped millions of $$$ into GOP coffers. Then all of the sudden, the White House is a Tesla car lot.

Now? They're probably back to hating them.
