How nice or sincere are parents in elite private schools?

I will say this, though. To me, the weirdest part about private schools is that parents matter. In public schools, we don't give a shit about the parents. It's a school, not a country club.

What do you mean by "parents matter"? One of the huge differences I see with my private school is parents can drop their kids off and there is no advocating, getting in front of the teacher, etc needed. We volunteer for our own socialization and not to give our kids a leg up because it's in the best interest of the school to meet the needs of all their students and for them to do well. Not true of public.

Now that you highlighted it... I haven't the foggiest of what they are saying 🤣 what do you mean we volunteer for our own socialization??? I volunteer to better the school šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø yea they have my kids best interests, but like doesn't mean they don't need help or parents bringing things up... I do appreciate that we don't have to "protest" and it is more of a conversation that goes like "I noticed xyz and was wondering if maybe lmnop might be a solution" and it is truly a partnership, but like private school isn't raising your kids.. 😬

Outside of volunteering or an occasional play date, parents have little to no interaction with my kid. Their personal attributes are really of no concern to me. I clock the influence that my kid’s peers, school administrators and staff have on my kid because they spend a ton of time with my child. But at the beginning and end of the day, guess who gets my prioritized focus and utmost attention?

That simply is not correct. The parents of your kid's best friends have a pretty strong influence on your kid. The family community in general will influence the kids and the culture of the school.

This!!!

For example, your family is against hunting morally or ethically for example but your child’s best friends famiky are big hunters - like multiple trips per year - killing animals and posting pics etc… Your kid gets invited to go on a trip with the family and another bff. Kid is begging got go because they don’t want to be left out. What do you do? Say this sort of thing - conflict of moral interests is a weekly event?
