How are your Aug-Dec kids doing re:offers?

So top is tied to labels

Not the coaching, individual growth and potential plus performance

Absolutey. Know the game. hate all the players, use the clubs to promote your club, expect nothing more

Too bad clubs wont allow this. At least not on top teams where theres significant competition for roater spots.
Not believable. Name a club that isn't going to SY?

This is the leadership opportunity that my kid can really use. Playing HS while club team is full of middle schoolers. So much better than trapped where you didn't have a team for half a year. My kid will miss practices but get a bunch more games.

We are in the boat of having a child who will be in the higher grade but lower age soccer team. I am generally OK with it but I was worried about the disconnect in grades. This is a nice perspective.

This is happening at all the top clubs, they are aligning their teams to the new SY age group birthdays. There will be exceptions based on the strength of certain teams. Like if a club has 25 good players for their U14 teams and 14 for their U15 team they will allocate more to the U15 team and have them "play up"

That goes against club interest

I am curious to know this as well

Can you explain how this goes against club interest? I legitimately do not understand, but I’m confident I’m missing something and you must be right.
Clubs don't like to promote within their club because it doesn't make them more money and blocks top slots that they can use to offer outsiders, meaning more money for the club.

I think that’s less likely this year. There’s a whole 5 months of birthdates to pull from within the club itself. Clubs would be silly not to evaluate those kids, current kids and new kids.

My DD is a Q4, and if she isn’t moved up a level or two by going down an age group, we will look elsewhere. We know the kids on the age group below for rec soccer, so we know where we fit in, and it’s definitely not the same level as the one we are playing in at the older age group.

Correct as you defined if the club has multiple players available for every roster position they're not going to let grade older players play down on the team. Its just much easier for clubs to avoid the 8th grade season challenges and misaligned recruiting issues.

You might see grade older players playing down on B and C teams but nobody really cares how these teams perform so it doesnt matter.

Since it's impossible to play down in age, your comment is kinda nonsense

I think you responded to the wrong comment. The PP was discussing going from BY to SY for Q4, not anything to do with grades.

Grade older than doesn't exist for club, makes no sense.

But yet it does. Especially for Aug-Dec players which this thread is about.

Go back to your School Year thread.

Not talking the grade older nonsense. These are the kids born in Oct-Dec that naturally will be moving “down” an age group bc of the change to SY. They are joining teams where the kids are all in their grade.

Sample size of one, but our club appears remarkably uninterested in moving kids up to higher teams this year. Rumors are that they are giving instant offers to outside players at same league level. From the parent sewing circles, it sure looks like clubs are trying to capture A team players from other clubs (who are panicked about potentially losing their spot) and hope their top B team players don't leave. If everyone accepts, the NL team (at a younger age group) will only have 2-3 from the new Q1, while RL will be fully half Q1. This chaos is far from over. If you're dead set on moving up, and haven't already been given a chance to practice with the higher team inside the club, my advice would be to at least get some other tryouts/id sessions on your calendar to cover yourself.

Even with Oct-Dec depending on when the school starts some players will go down 2 levels when switching from BY to SY. In this case players will have to play up to be on the correct grade in school team.
