How are your Aug-Dec kids doing re:offers?

Presumably in year two they will adjust for proper team placement.

I believe this. READ YOUR CONTRACTS. Know whether you have access to your players card. Don’t complain later if you read this message. Youth soccer in 2026 is equal to the early 20th century business practices.

I hate that they treat this like a usual money grab - they should be taking care of their own players in this weird transition year. My daughter is a top player on her current team, cannot stay with them and now has to fight for a spot on the team below while the club tries to woo people from outside. Disgraceful.

If your DD is a top player on her current team, she wouldn't be moved down. So the questions is, is she really a top player?

My kid wants to stick with current program, play up next year - but their tryouts aren't done till end of March.

He wouldn't attend the tryouts as a returning player however he could be bumped from the current team and in theory not find a slot on the lower team. I hadn't put this all together until yesterday and now I'm thinking he should tryout elsewhere just to have somewhere of a similar level for next year to play.

Our club has not said anything to anyone. Seems like some are geting told they can play up and some are told they have to go down. Some are in the dark

Fortunate to get an offer on current team moving up to u17 despite being age eligible for u16 for another year before ID's began. No conversation with club about preference and did not attend IDs. Starter quality but doesn't play whole game for an ECNL club for reference. I thought this was how most clubs were doing it but VDA showed their cards publicly that they would not be doing that, with exceptions I assume like always for USYNT level players. Anyone else willing to share?

She is the top scorer for her team. Regular hat tricks.

Same here, my kid is a starter in 95% of games and has to move down to the team a year younger while they fill the roster with outsiders. Not staying with the club next season. As soon as we get the offer from other club we are outsie boutsie.

What age group and team level? There's not many hat tricks happening in age groups where age and level of competition actually matter (U14+ ECNL/GA). If your DD is younger than U13 or playing RL, GA 2, NCSL, do her a favor and go to the appropriate age group team. If she's scoring hat tricks regularly she shouldn't have a problem getting a spot with the younger age group. It will only benefit her in the long run.

We are not trying to play up. We want her to play with her year but not on RL again.

USYNT level players lost is allure this season. Not going to say why because I dont want to disrespect but restnl assured it will mean less going forward for those nominations.

Would like others opinion on something- have a player with an August birthday. Club wants her to continue to play up. Not really giving her the choice to play with her correct grade. Shouldn’t it be the player’s choice? Feel like the club is prioritizing the club/team needs over what is best for our daughter.

We were not given the choice either. It should be a choice or an explanation of their decision based on your child’s development, not their club/team needs.
There will be no shortage of kids and parents dying to get our spot when we leave so the club really won’t care.

Our club has been clear that they are aligning with the new year, so there hasn’t been any misperception of choice. This is no different then how they handled birth year, very few play up.

We want to change clubs for our youngest and she's been invited to kick around with some ECNL teams at other clubs but because she's RL (our club doesn't have ECNL on the girls side) she has to have permission from our club to do that before May and we can't even get anyone to return her calls. We're probably going to have to demand release of her player card.

Wow, after May! That seems super practical/ normal. -What state is this?

Also, I think she is ok just to go to their practices without acquiring her player card. Also, your Team Manager can get a copy of her player card. But yes, if you decide to switch before the season is over, you may need to force a player card switch.

You guys are lucky. The spring season has been completely ruined for u14 and under in VA.

Maryland too - wish the clubs would get together and agree to wait with the tryouts and the offers. The problem is, as soon as one does it, everyone else jumps on the bandwagon for fear of missing out or losing their top players to the club that went first
