Yes, our school was cleared out like this yesterday with several backhoes.

You're lucky!

Where are you?

My kid’s high school just sent an email that school is opening tomorrow with a 2 hr delay.

FCPS literally could not care less if you withdraw your kid from school. BTDT.

because virtual learning is a joke.

No one wants virtual "learning". Why would anyone even suggest such a thing.

Laughable. Like when fcps sent out 180, 000 worksheet packets at the start of covid.

Private? Because no individual high school in FCPS gets advance notice of these things

PP - Are you referring to Reid's vague email from yesterday that it might be a 2hr delay, but to wait for a final decision this afternoon?
Nothing has been officially announced for Tuesday.

I know zero of those parents. I got the email/text when I was grocery shopping and every parent was complaining about it, people were talking to friends, it wasn’t hard to hear the conversation.

Our friends chat group is beyond annoyed, it includes working aprents, SAHP, and parents working from home.

The neighborhood facebook page is upset with the decision.

Kids belong in school. If you are concerned about your kids safety, drive them to school or keep them home but school should be open. Most of the teachers worked to complete their 2nd quarter material before the storm last week, the extension of the quarter means many kids are going to be in classes needed only for kids who need retests and to turn in massing assignments. Your kid, who I am sure is an angel and getting perfect grades, doesn’t have to be there.

Do you not have jobs? Trying to work while kids continuously interrupt as they try to entertain themselves on their own is not exactly quality family time.

Are you being sarcastic? Evidently you are not a working mother trying to balance meetings, deliverables, proposals, trying to limit screen time, thinking of educational activities to keep kids engaged, remembering to feed your kids meals (let alone feed yourself), slip sliding all over the yard while taking the dogs out, etc., etc.

I understand why the kids are out of school and I'm resigned to that, but I am not going to pretend that I'm happy about it and that I think that it's better for my kids to be home rather than in school.
