A delay will not help in this case when the high Thurs is 20. A delay may help buses start but many kids aren’t on buses to these schools.

Having grown up in Chicago, here is the major difference. Outside of Chicago proper, and even in the city, many more people have garages or indoor parking than do here in the DMV. Our house here doesn't have a garage, and even though we have been on top of shoveling the initial snow fall, yesterday's sleet has us outside with a pickaxe to break through the ice layers before we can even think about shoveling. In addition, the cost of living here means we are doing our own snow removal rather than using a service. Not complaining, just trying to offer another perspective.

Considering how little snow we get most years, it doesn’t make sense to buy a huge number of plows that will mostly sit unused. This isn’t Boston.

A snow plow is just a regular truck with a snow plow attachment in the front. Snow plows are usually not dedicated vehicles but just trucks where you add on that attachment. This is really not that expensive. These trucks get used year round for other things.

It did not stop snowing 24 hours ago, its only been 15 hours.

Try to keep up. Many people are saying schools will be cancelled beyond Tuesday.

The county website says they’ll have plowed all roads by tomorrow.

Are you saying the county owns large trucks that could be used as plows, but doesn’t have plows to put on them? Where are they keeping all these trucks?

It will only be above 0 next Tuesday. I think it is likely that the whole week will be closed. Sucks to the parents who actually need to go to work. When they close schools, do they ever think about parents? I lived in MA for a few years; there was only one time the school was closed. What is missing in DMV?
