They went back to school on Thursday. It should have been Tuesday. Still better than public but needs to be better. |
"Cancelation" is an acceptable spelling. |
St Mary’s in old town has been shut all week. Shocker. |
| St John’s has not opened all week. |
| Good Counsel has been closed all week. Mon-Wed were nothing days and Thursday and Friday asynchronous learning, but that amounted to a couple of worksheets. |
| Sounds like the religious schools have been closed more than the secular ones. |
Because they have students from a wider range of the DMV than some of the independent schools. At our religious school, there are students from 69 zip codes. |
Yup. I applaud the public schools for doing right by students and parents. The Catholic schools were a total embarrassment — nothing but stupid excuses and silly justifications to try and excuse their bad decisions. Think twice before switching from public to Catholic. Grass always seems greener. It’s often not. |
| Neighbor kid’s private went to 100% synchronous school on Wednesday. Hours of time online on-screen. She said it’s a waste of time. |
I’m happy with their decisions. Some of the independent Catholic schools have been back at school. Others haven’t. What’s it to you? |
Ok and? |
Those saying their school was “open” with virtual learning are not evaluating the quality of the learning experience, just that it exists. Better to have some independent study than make kids sit in front of a screen for hours. But people want to think they are getting their money’s worth. |
You don’t have a kid in private school and you’re on here trying to disparage other people’s choices. Go away and deal with your own life. |
Actually I do. And I know my kids have been better off this week doing something other than staring at their teacher on Zoom. |
