Loudoun Parents - prepare to be out all next week

Supposedly, LCPS is getting on HOAs to get their sidewalks and paths cleared in expectation for a Monday opening. Let’s hope it comes to pass.

Teachers can get out just fine to meet friends for lunch or to take their kids to dance.

You’re griping at me like I make these calls! They just might do a 2 hour delay tomorrow literally none of us know.

There is literally no world in which they do a two hour delay. Be serious.

The previous comment was probably in response to the one above that claimed teachers can't get it.

It almost certainly wasn't directed at you.

My HOA hired dudes with bobcats today to do just that and it helped a lot. The email telling parents they need to be prepared to help get their kids to school safely on Monday was also good … don’t sit on your butt all weekend shoveling nothing and then be like “how can my kid get to the bus” on Monday. Walk them up and wait with them or drive them. We the teachers have to plan an asynchronous learning day JUST IN CASE but I truly don’t see them calling us off Monday.

Teacher here. I hope we can chillax on Monday too. I was praying for another snow storm this weekend and another week off. Pity.

Why don’t you just go ahead and find another career. Our kids deserve better.

That’s a troll. Don’t engage them

Not sure about Loudoun, but Fairfax still has so much snow blocking the roads so that 2 lanes are now 1 lane and I am not sure how buses will be able to navigate.

Teachers were all told they needed asynchronous work ready to be posted on Monday “just in case.”

How does that work for the teachers? Do they already have things in their Google Drive they can use? I assume it’s review and practice.

Do all students have school issued devices at home, or were they left at the schools?

I went out today beyond my own neighborhood (which is fine) and everywhere looks fine. I don’t see why we’d close Monday.

Yes and yes.

If we get screwed out of in person school on Monday it will be 100% due to walk zones and equity. Most people are capable of getting their kids to school on Monday.

Sure letting kids stand on ice mounds on corners that are hard to see is fabulous.
