Black enrollment falls below 8% for every top 20 ranked liberal arts college in the country

Talk about it!! Great news!

What were the numbers before the SC ruling?

It is eye opening to see how small the numbers are at those schools for number of black students enrolling.

That said, SLACs are definitely falling out of favor - even with the white kids. I can see why black students would not be interested in attending SLACs.

Will the numbers ever rebound?

Let me preface this by saying that there are many, many, many nice, "normal," well-socialized and assimilated Asian people out there. They are some of my closest friends. But stereotypes exist for a reason.

That being said, schools will continue to use essays, recs, activities, etc. to weed out the stereotypical "4.0/ 1600/ chess/ violin/ fencing/ highly curated summer schedule/ never watched TV or went to a game in their lives" Asian kids who people are so afraid of taking over the world. Some might argue that if the world was a "meritocracy" then schools would be full of them. I think people will increasingly start opting out of those schools because life is about more than that. YMMV.

You may now attack.

State schools aside, I can see more and more private schools segregating into "types". I saw it two years ago when my oldest was going through the process - I thought at the time "these (mainly white) kids sure do talk about wanting their college to be diverse but what they really want is for the school to have a fair number of other kids that are like them." Blacks will increasingly go to HBCUs, preppy whites will gravitate towards the Colgates/Richmonds, stereotypical Asians will go towards top ranked schools, woke/progressive/gay kids will go to schools like Oberlin/Smith/Skidmore, other white kids who want balance will go to the Dukes/Vandy. I do believe the social segregation will be more pronounced.

Amherst was 11% pre SFFA.

The SLACS reveal their true colors - beige, white, and taupe.

We all knew this right?

The top 20 or so SLACs will continue to be in high demand.

HBCUs aren’t affordable for most black families. They also have terrible graduation rates.

The discrimination is so obvious it’s a bit depressing. Pomona class of 2027 is 14.1% black. How the hell did they discriminate against other students so much that that number plummeted to 5%? Amherst went from 11 to 3%?! It’s bizarre we allowed AA to last as long as we did.

The numbers show discrimination - just not in the way that you think.

So Bowdoin, Colgate, Davidson, Hamilton, Middlebury, Richmond, Washington & Lee and Wesleyan look like America and others are still trying to social engineer dystopian outcomes.

So there is still some hope.

How is it discrimination that schools aren’t giving black people unnecessary boosts in admission? California is about 5% black and Pomona draws heavily from California. Why was it ever 14% black?

Some states have Asian people.

The multiracial category also tends to be majority Asian…

But that’s the crux of the problem. The republicans have dismantled DEI on every level, allowing the massive increase of Asians into our universities.

I don’t see what the problem is.

+1. DEI/woke was yet another American educational e pertinent that failed.

I know of a black kid currently at Harvey Mudd, so I guess that makes me pretty special as there are very, very few. Let's just say this kid is far from FGLI.

I wish the schools would stop even asking these questions. I'm not some anti-DEI Trumper but it is doing more harm than good. If you are concerned whether there are people like you at the school, go look around.

Highly doubtful.
